Early school year start legislation
A recently approved state provision allows all school districts in Minnesota to start school on September 1 (before Labor Day) for the 2015-2016 school year. In response, the District reviewed the feasibility of adjusting the 2015-2016 calendar which it approved in November 2014. Like many neighboring districts, Mounds View determined that insufficient time and multiple scheduling complications will prevent moving up the start of the upcoming school year. The school year will start on September 8, 2015, as previously scheduled.

2014-2015 quarterly budget amendments
Budget amendments are necessary as additional information becomes known. The Board approved budget amendments of $661,409 increase in general fund revenues and $602,728 increase in general fund expenditures. To see a complete summary of the approved amendments visit the District's Budget & Finance page at www.moundsviewschools.org.

2015-2016 budget approved
The Board adopted the 2015-2016 budget as presented by Carole Nielsen, director of finance. The fiscal year 2015-2016 budget was developed based on the assumptions provided by the School Board through several Board meetings and work sessions over the past six months. The proposed budgets represent the financial projections for the District for the general fund, nutrition services fund, community services fund, construction fund and debt service funds. Superintendent's evaluation

The summary stated, "the Superintendent deals with the business of schools without losing his focus on the goal of education. Superintendent Hoverman is a masterful leader with vision, compassion, dedication and high standards to which he holds himself—and those whose work he oversees—accountable.
