Early Childhood Services
As the District continues to focus on ways to enhance its early childhood program offerings,  Mounds View Public Schools staff have been studying pre-school enhancement and expansion options.  Ann Bettenburg, director of student services, and Sue Stoner, coordinator of family education, outlined ways in which District services for four-year-olds could be expanded and the potential impact those options could have on District facilities and other support services. To watch the presentation, click here and find the coordinating Board agenda item in the bookmarks section.

Elementary Literacy Study
The District Management Council has been working with Mounds View Public Schools to examine how reading is being taught in Mounds View Public Schools. The primary objective of the project is to improve elementary reading practices through a custom tailored plan built off current initiatives. Cost-neutral or cost-beneficial recommendations aim to ensure all students are receiving the most effective and cost-effective support possible. Angie Peschel, director of curriculum and instruction, and Shannon Roney, elementary literacy support, presented the District Management Council's report  and offered next steps related to the opportunities presented in the plan. To watch the Board presentation, click here and find the coordinating Board agenda item in the bookmarks section.

Early College
This year’s graduating class at Irondale High School will be the first class which has had the opportunity to participate in the Early College program throughout their high school career. Mary Roden, assistant director of assessment, provided an update on the pattern of student participation in concurrent enrollment courses and the pattern of student success earning college credit in these courses.
