Certify final property tax levyThe Board approved a resolution to certify the 2017 property tax levy. The final certification will be forwarded to Ramsey County for processing of the final property tax statement. The tax statements will be sent out in March 2017. The property tax revenue will be available to the District for the 2017-2018 school year. The total levy amount is $44,781,827 which is 1.5 percent greater than the 2016 tax levy. The main area of increase is for deferred maintenance on buildings. For more information, please visit the Budgets & Finance page at www.moundsviewschools.org.
Carole Nielsen, director of finance, spoke about 2017-2018 fiscal year budget assumptions which are developed with input from the School Board through work sessions. Budget assumptions will be used in financial projections and in determining the final budget. The final 2017-2018 budget will be adopted in June 2017.
New non-resident enrollment closed through 2019To meet timelines for the next cycle of nonresident enrollment applications, the District will continue to be closed for non-resident enrollment options. There are multiple indicators that suggest that the District will continue to see growth in resident enrollments for several years. For that reason, the Board closed new nonresident enrollment options for two years rather than one. New non-resident enrollment will be closed for 2017-18 and 2018-19.
UpdatesThe Board discussed issues and updates related to AMSD.
