  • Students living less than two miles from school can pay a $200 fee (per child) or a $500 family cap for bus service.
  • Both families that live more than two miles from school and families that qualify for free and reduced lunch are eligible for bussing at no fee; however, they must still register with the District Transportation Office in order to receive a bus pass.
  • Name Tags - Students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade will find bus tags enclosed with the student mailing sent on August 6th.  Please be sure to complete the name tags and attach them to your student's backpack for the first day of school.

Keep an Eye on the Weather!

Snow Pants & Boots are needed at Recess!

Please be sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the day’s weather.  When there is snow on the ground children must wear snow pants and boots to be able to play on the playground.  If they don’t have snow pants and boots they will still go outside for some fresh air but must stay on the blacktop area.

Severe Weather Guidelines

For Indoor Recess & Flag Patrol Safety:

Recess: Students remain in the building at recess time if the weather is too severe to go outside.  A temperature of 0 degrees or colder, or a wind chill temperature of –10 degrees or colder, constitutes severe weather.

Flag Patrols:  Flag patrols follow the same severe weather guidelines used for recess.  If it is too cold for students to play outside, it is also considered too cold for patrols to stand on a corner outside.

Lightening is also a severe weather condition keeping patrols inside.  Two weeks ago we experienced a thunderstorm with lightening.  Since the flags that the patrols use have a metal pole, patrols were not sent to their crossing locations.

Parents are reminded to assist children who are crossing busy streets when the flag patrols are not outside.

Snow day notices posted within 30 minutes
If school is cancelled for a weather-related emergency, the District’s web site will post an announcement within 30 minutes of the decision to close schools. No messages will be posted unless school is cancelled. Visit www.moundsviewschools.org.

To receive an e-mail message within 30 minutes of a decision, visit the E-news web page at www.moundsviewschools.org and subscribe to School Cancellations. In the event of school cancellations, the District will also notify residents through local television stations and Cable Channel 20.
