Keep an Eye on the Weather! Snow Pants & Boots are
needed at
Recess! Please be sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the day’s weather. When there is snow on the ground children must wear snow pants and boots to be able to play on the playground. If they don’t have snow pants and boots they will still go outside for some fresh air but must stay on the blacktop area. Severe Weather GuidelinesFor Indoor Recess & Flag
Patrol Safety: Recess: Students
remain in the building at recess time if the weather is too severe to
go outside. A temperature of 0 degrees or
colder, or a wind chill temperature of –10 degrees or colder,
constitutes severe weather. Flag Patrols:
Flag patrols follow the same severe weather guidelines
used for recess. If it is too cold for
students to play outside, it is also considered too cold for patrols to
stand on a corner outside. Lightening is also a
severe weather condition keeping patrols inside. Two
weeks ago we experienced a thunderstorm with lightening.
Since the flags that the patrols use have a metal pole,
patrols were not sent to their crossing locations. Parents are
reminded to assist children who are crossing busy streets when the flag
patrols are not outside. Snow
