Minnesota students enrolled in high school during the 2005- 2006 school year must continue to pass the BST exams in reading, mathematics and written expression (first administered in grade 10) as well as meet course credit requirements to be eligible to receive a high school diploma (Graduation Year of 2009 or earlier). However, beginning with this year’s ninth graders the NCLB assessments known as the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA) will replace the BST as the graduation exam for students with graduation year of 2010 and beyond. To learn more about the new Graduation Standard go to the MDE website located at: http://education.state. mn.us/mde/Accountability_Programs/Assessment_and_Testing/ Assessments/GRAD_Component_MCA_II/index.html.
