Mounds View Schools Support Group for Parents of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

 

For more information call, (651) 621-7681 and leave your name and phone number.  Leave your address if you would like to be added to the mailing list. Cancellations due to weather will be on the voice mail message.

 The Support Group for Parents of Children with ASD will be meeting on the third Tuesday of the month from 6:30-8:00 at Sunnyside Elementary in the staff lounge.

The meeting dates are;

February 14
April 17

Please note there are no meetings in March or May this year.

Child care will be available on request. Please make sure to RSVP by 4:00 p.m. on Monday the week of the meeting in order to ensure there is staff available for child care support. You can RSVP at
651-621-7681. Please leave your name and the number of children requiring child care.

You can check for weather related cancellations at
651-621-7681the day of the meeting.The Parent Support Group for parents of children with ASD will meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.

 

 

The support group is a combination of new information, discussion and sharing time. It is a great opportunity to meet other families and to become connected within your community.

 


District 621 Special Education Parent and Professional Advisory

PACER Center offers free workshops throughout Minnesota to parents of children with disabilities and the professionals working with families.

Workshop topics include areas of interest in special education, including information on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) program, early childhood, the area of transition for students 14-21 (housing, post secondary, employment, and community), assistive technology, and many more!

The SEPPAC is a group of parents and staff whose purpose is to share information and advise the district on behalf of students receiving special education.  The Council welcomes members who represent all schools and programs in the Mounds View School District. We usually meet the 1st Thursday of each month, with the exception of September due to back to school events.

EDUCATIONAL EVENTS
Our neighbor district , #622 No. St. Paul/Maplewood/Oakdale, has invited parents and professionals to join them for the ADHD support group. If you are interested in getting the information about their monthly classes, call 651-748-7585 and ask to be added to their e-mail list.  This year they have speakers about Sensory Processing Disorder, organizational strategies and evaluation.

1. Pacer Center has many classes for parents and professionals.  Go to www.pacer.org  for more information and registration.   
 
2. The Autism Society of Minnesota (AuSM) also has classes.  Check their web site for more information. http://ausm.org/

3. Children and Adults with Attention Defict/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD) offer classes in the Twin Cities.  Explore those at http://www.chadd.org/
