The Adaptive Recreation Club

Northwest Youth & Family Services offers counseling and support for individuals and families experiencing difficulty with: depression, family conflict,  anxiety, behavior disorders, self-esteem, anger, stress and difficult life transitions.  Contact them at 651-486-3808, 3490 Lexington Ave. N. Shoreview, MN  55126.  They also offer group sessions for youth including  "Growing Up Male: A group for boys ages 14-16 dealing with anger & other emotions" , and "Dealing with Feelings: A group for Girls Ages 14-17".

The Adaptive Recreation Club is a joint effort between the Parks and Recreation Departments of Arden Hills, MoundsView, New Brighton, Shoreview, Vadnais Heights and School District #621.

Adaptive Recreation Teen Club is for teen , ages 13 and up, who have mild mental and or phsical handicaps and receiving special educational service through School District #621.  The program meets twice a month starting in January.  Teen club includes a wide variety of indoor and outdoor recreational and social activities.  Instructor ratio is 1 to 6.  For program and fee information, please call Pat Tuma at the New Brighton Parks and Recreation department at 651-638-2123.

Adaptive Bowling is open to all special education students (7th grade through youg adult) in the Mounds View School District.  Participants will bowl at the Mermaid Lanes on Saturday afternoons starting in January.  Staff includes 2 supervisors plus volunteeres.  The program runs for 10 weeks.  Fees cover bowling and shoes.  Supervision and holiday party are provided by the Mounds View Lions Club and the Light Brigade.  For more information on the exact starting date and fee, please call Pat Tuma at the New Brighton Parks & Recreation Department at 651-638-2123.

Adaptive After-School Sports Club  This club is designed for post-high school students looking to continue participating in sports activities.  The group will be meeting during the school year on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Shoreview Community Center.  A community cneter pass willl be required to be part of this group.   Space is limited.  Please contact Charlotte Donahue at 651-486-0470 for more information.
