Miyani
School in Kenya
This year, Edgewood &
Sunnyside will work together to raise money to complete a water project for Miyani
School in Kenya. The project will bring clean water and
sanitation directly to the school.
Our goal is to raise $6120.
We have raised about $2500 so
far through donations from the Bucket Walk and T-Shirt sales.
Some of our other fundraising events
include:
Halloween dress-up (October 31-donate $1 to
H2O and wear your costume at school)
Hat Day (December 19th-
donate $1 to H2O and wear a crazy hat at school)
Angel Sales (student-made angels sell
for $5)
T-Shirt Sales (T-shirts are $10 and are
worn every Thursday for ÒH2O DayÓ)

District students gather for a
good cause

October 8, 2008 -- Edgewood Middle School students rallied friends and
family members to take part in a "Bucket Walk" to raise money for
H2O for Life, an organization that brings clean water to schools around the
globe. Edgewood student Hallal Tamene, her father Tamene Melkami and her aunt
Maratu Gunja (pictured) participated in the event which raised about
$1,500 for clean water at Miyani School in Kenya. Sunnyside Elementary School
students, Highview Middle School students and Irondale High School students
also participated in the October 5 event at Highview Middle School. |
