How to apply

Applications for open enrollment are welcome, however interest usually exceeds spaces. Acceptance is limited each year to grades and schools where non-resident student enrollment would not negatively impact class sizes.


Open enrollment
Open Enrollment is a State program designed to offer families the opportunity to apply to attend a school or program outside the district of residence. Students offered space through Open Enrollment are approved to attend the nonresident district through graduation, and cannot be withdrawn except in cases of a student over the age of 16 who is habitually truant.

Districts are required to offer minimum Open Enrollment space following one of the two guidelines below:
 
* Option 1 – At least 1% of students at a particular grade level (one for every 100 students);
* or Option 2 – A total equaling the number of District students leaving a grade level to open enroll with other public school districts.

If a District has met the minimum of one of these guidelines, they are not required to accept any additional open enrollments at that grade level.

Deadlines
Applications are taken from December 1 through January 15th of each year. Notifications as to approval/denial of a request are sent to families by February 15, and approved families must confirm acceptance of the Open Enrollment placement by March 1.

Selection process
All Open Enrollment space is offered through lottery. Siblings of students already attending our schools will continue to be automatically approved. Families who are not offered space are welcome to have their request put in a waiting list for possible future openings.
