Enrollment Resident students new to Mounds View Public Schools or entering from a nonpublic or home school setting must complete enrollment into the District. An enrollment packet with forms can be obtained from the school your student will attend.
In addition, a record of all student immunizations and proof of residence within the school boundary area (driver's license, utility bill, rental/lease/purchase agreement) must be provided. Families may also be asked to provide a birth certificate.
Contact the school for additional information, or to set up a time to register.

Open Enrollment Open Enrollment is a State program which allows families to apply to a public district outside their home district area. Mounds View Public Schools will accept applications for Open Enrollment for the 2012-2013 school year between December 1 and January 15. All decisions are made as space is available for a particular school/grade by lottery from among the applications received. (Families who move to an out-of-District address mid-year are offered the option to keep their student(s) at the District school they currently attend).
In-District Transfers Resident students of Mounds View Public Schools may apply to attend a school that is outside their school's attendance boundaries, yet still within the District. Applications for the 2012-2013 school year will be accepted from December 1 to January 15. In-district transfer space is offered on a space-available basis with priority given to siblings of student’s currently attending, requests where daycare is located within the school boundaries, staff requests, or with a compelling educational reason the transfer is needed. (Transfers are not offered for requests due to athletic ability or a student desire for a specific sport or team placement.) Outside of these priorities, all placements are made by lottery. (Families who move to an address outside the school District mid-year are offered the option to keep their student(s) at the District school they currently attend).
Families requesting new placement are notified by February 28 as to approval/denial.
2012-13 School Year Notices: *For the 2012-13 school year, the following schools will be closed to Open Enrollment and In-District Transfers: · Island Lake Elementary – all grade levels · Turtle Lake Elementary – all grade levels (very slim possibility of kindergarten space) · Valentine Hills Elementary – all grade levels
Families who would like to apply to be put on a wait list in the very unlikely event space becomes available at one of these sites by mid-August are welcome to do so. Families would only be notified if the school of choice could offer a placement.
*New families approved for 2012 will no longer be guaranteed sibling placement at the same site.
*Transportation is available only if families can get their student(s) to the nearest school bus stop for the requested school. Contact the Transportation Department for further details.
