Resident enrollment
Resident students new to Mounds View Public Schools or entering from a nonpublic or home school setting must complete enrollment into the District. An enrollment packet with forms can be obtained from the school your student will attend.
In addition, a record of all student immunizations and proof of residence within the school boundary area (driver's license, utility bill, rental/lease/purchase agreement) must be provided. Families may also be asked to provide a birth certificate.
Contact the school for additional information, or to set up a time to register.

2013-2014 Open Enrollment for non-residents:
Open Enrollment is a State program which allows families to apply to a public district outside their home district area. Mounds View Public Schools will accept applications for Open Enrollment for the 2013-2014 school year between December 1 and January 15. All decisions are made as space is available for a particular school/grade by lottery from among the applications received.
Closed
The following sites will be closed to any new Open Enrollment for 2013-14, and there will be no wait list options for these sites:
* Bel Air Elementary School
* Island Lake Elementary School
* Turtle Lake Elementary School
* Valentine Hills Elementary School
Open
Elementary requests should be made to either:
* Pinewood Elementary School
* Sunnyside Elementary School
* All District middle schools and high schools are open.
Application Form
Applications for the 2013-2014 school year can be downloaded HERE. The application packet also can be requested by e-mail (cindy.fyle@moundsviewschools.org), or by phone at 651-621-6013. All applications must be received by January 15, 2013.
All decisions are made, as space is available, by lottery. Once filled, we will keep interested families on wait-lists for open sites in case space would open up later in the spring/summer. Families who apply by January 15 will be notified by the end of February as to approval/denial of their request. There is no sibling preference for new families approved in the 2012-13 school year and beyond, and transportation is the responsibility of the parent unless the parent can get the student to the nearest in-district bus stop for the requested school.
In-District Transfers
Resident students of Mounds View Public Schools may apply to attend a school that is outside their school's attendance boundaries, yet still within the District. Applications for the 2013-2014 school year will be accepted from December 1 to January 15. In-district transfer space is offered on a space-available basis with priority given to siblings of student's currently attending, requests where daycare is located within the school boundaries, staff requests, or with a compelling educational reason the transfer is needed. (Transfers are not offered for requests due to athletic ability or a student desire for a specific sport or team placement.) Outside of these priorities, all placements are made by lottery.

Applications for the 2013-2014 school year can be downloaded HERE.
Families requesting new placement are notified by February 28 as to approval/denial.
Moving?
Resident families who move to an address outside the school District mid-year are offered the option to keep their student(s) Open Enrolled at the District school they currently attend so long as the school is open to nonresidents. At closed sites, families are given the option to have the student continue only through the end of the current school year, at which time they will be dropped, and the family would need to make arrangements to have them enrolled in their new home district.
If a family moves to a new address outside the current school boundary, but still within the 621 District boundaries, they are given the option to have the students continue at the current school through In-District Transfer.
Please contact your school office staff to get further details, or to request the necessary paperwork. This information can also be obtained by contacting Cindy Fyle at 651-621-6013.
Kindergarten
Every District elementary school offers full-day kindergarten.
K+ is available at all elementary schools within the District and offers a full-day program including certified teaching staff, lunch, recess and in-District transportation. K+ requires a full year commitment at a cost of $15 per day.
The YMCA offers the K-Care program at Pike Lake Education Center (for Bel Air, Sunnyside Valentine Hills and Island Lake kindergarten students) and at Pinewood Elementary School (for Pinewood and Turtle Lake kindergarten students). K-Care has a three-day-a-week minimum for enrollment at a cost of $10.50 per session.
Contact the school for additional information.
