Welcome to Island Lake Elementary School

Island Lake Elementary is located in Shoreview, Minnesota, a northern suburb of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area. The school has an enrollment of almost 700 students in grades K - 5, with 91 full or part-time staff.

Island Lake has a history of high student achievement. Our students typically score very high on the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment that has been given to all Minnesota students in grades three and five in the last several years. This high achievement has also been evident in scores our students have received on the NWEA test, a nationally normed test that we have given to students in grades 2 - 5.

One of the keys to our success has been the diligence of our staff as they have differentiated instruction to meet the needs of each student at his/her readiness level. Another key is our extensive volunteer program. Our volunteers log 15,000 hours annually assisting our students, staff, and families through a variety of programs.

The most important thing to know about Island Lake Elementary School is that our students are simply wonderful kids! Supportive parents and highly focused and committed staff work together to help each student develop to his/her full potential.
