Property taxes paid towards Mounds View Public Schools are less today than five years ago.
Despite a recent increase of nearly 15%, the District’s levy is still 29% lower than it was in 2001.
Since that time, the State has intentionally shifted the burden of funding schools toward property owners. In 2005, the higher property taxes – in response to shifts of funding – did not yield more revenue for Mounds View Public Schools.
In 2007-08, the annual tax increase would be about $76 for every $100,000 of the taxable market value of a property (found on the payable 2006 tax statement). As enrollment declines, the tax impact on property owners will decline.
