Overview of Mounds View girl’s Track and Field Booster Club
What is a booster club?
It is a program established by a team/ activity to help organize and provide financial support to a program or cause. Our booster club was reestablished with the intent to provide additional support for the girl’s track and field team. The parents of the captains generally head the booster clubs; however, every parent is a member.
What has the money gone to in the past?
Over the past two years, new warm-ups for the team, hurdles, starting blocks, high jump pit, field equipment and a timing system have been purchased. There are new poles for the pole-vaulters, new shot puts and discus, and training equipment for sprinters and jumpers.
What is needed for this year?
New uniforms will be purchased over the next two years. Expenses for team gatherings outside of track. Various track equipment (ex. shot and discus, agility hurdles etc.)
What is needed for the future? If we want to maintain a larger coaching staff, additional funds will be necessary to meet those needs. The school provides the funds for a head coach and 4 assistant coaches.
How are the funds obtained?
We start by asking for a voluntary donation from each family of $50 (any more a family could contribute would be appreciated). A team fundraiser will be used in the early part of the season and we are on the wait – list at Cub foods for bagging. If anyone has any suggestions please contact myself or one of the captain’s parents.
Who controls the funds?
The funds are delivered to a checking account controlled by the booster club treasurer and monitored by the head coach. Funds are dispersed as seen fit necessary by coaches and booster parents.
What else does the booster club do?
They support their daughters by sponsoring carbo loads, and organizing the end of the year banquet. It would also be helpful to have parents take pictures at the track meets, and videotape some of the events for training purposes (possibly have an end of the year slide show or video at the banquet).
