Calculator Information
School supply needs are specific to teachers and courses. Required supplies will vary depending on each student's scheduled classes. For the first day of school please bring a notebook and pen or pencil and a lock for your PE locker if you have Fitness for Life. Student planners are provided by the school. Teachers will provide students with classroom supply lists on the first day of school.
The Mounds View mathematics curriculum calls for all students to have access to a graphing calculator. The most useful and appropriate calculator for a 9th grade student is a Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus or TI-84 Plus. The TI-84 Plus is an updated version of the TI-83 Plus with greater speed, memory, and preprogrammed applications, but otherwise they are essentially the same calculator.
Both calculators can also be purchased in a "Silver Edition" with even more memory. Expect to pay between $95 and $130. Although it is not mandatory that students have one of these graphing calculators, they are what will be used for demonstration in the classroom, as well as what the teachers are most knowledgeable about.
