2006 Truth in Taxation Report
The Board certified the final 2006 property tax levy. The total levy amount is $31,299,911, which is about $4 million, or a 14.92 percent increase over the 2005 tax levy. However, the entire levy increase does not generate new revenue for school district operations. Instead, a portion of the increase ($1,721,101) is revenue that the District received for the 2005-06 school year as state aid, but will be shifted to property taxes for the 2006-07 school year. Another portion of the increase ($1,102,375) is dedicated to expenditures that the District will incur to meet specific statutory guidelines. The balance of the increase ($1,240,259) is available for meeting the operational needs of the District.
