Becoming involved in the Pinewood PTA is a wonderful way to help support and become a part of your child's education! Your membership is a vital aspect of our PTA's success! Download the Membership Form, fill it out and return it to school to become a member- it's that easy!
Our focus for the 2008/2009 school year is celebrating Pinewood students' successes and achievements and creating a strong Pinewood community.
We would LOVE to see you at the PTA Meetings. We provide childcare during the meetings and try to keep them to one hour in length. Give the meetings a try....you won't be sorry you did!!
Support and speak on behalf of children and youth in schools, in the community, and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children;
Assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children; and
Encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.
The purposes of the PTA are to:
Promote the welfare of children and youth at home and school, in the community and place of worship;
Raise the standards of home life;
Secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth;
Bring into closer relation the home and the school, so that parents and teacher may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth; and
Develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social and spiritual education.
Meets once a month, on the third Tuesday of the month. The meeting agenda includes a principal's report and an update on current and upcoming PTA and school activities;
Hosts speakers at PTA meetings who speak on timely subjects for parents;
Helps to educate parents on a wide variety of issues that impact them, their children and our school
Conducts fundraising activities, including:
Sale of various items in the fall (e.g., wrapping papers, candy and snacks, knick-knacks)
Book Fairs
Collecting box tops and Kemp's milk tops
Supports financially and with volunteers numerous programs and activities at Pinewood, including:
Safety Patrol
5th grade assignment books
IMC (library/resource center)
Angel Fund
Parent Handbook
School Carnival
Student folders
FOCUS (funds provided to teachers to purchase items for their classroom)
All school speakers, field trips and assemblies
Project Warm
Family Night-Pasta Dinner
Volunteer to help staff open house, sight testing, bulletin board maintenance, grounds maintenance, etc.
How can I be involved with the Pinewood PTA?
Become a dues paying member of the PTA
Attend PTA meetings when you are able to do so
Volunteer your time with one of the fundraisers, Book Fair or activities
Share information on activities with other parents-get them involved to help make a difference!!
