The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) approved the District's multi-year integration plan beginning in fiscal year 2010-2011. In addition, MDE requires annual detailed budgets of the integration plan be submitted by March 15. The Board approved the 2011-2012 integration revenue budget plan as presented by Carole Nielsen, director of finance. Director of curriculum & instruction RoAnne Elliott gave an overview of the District's K-12 summer programs for 2011 including Fitness for Life, Health Education, ESL, Summer Academy, Orchestra and Band. Area Learning Center principal Donna Johnson spoke about summer programs including Targeted Services Summer Programs.
The Board approved District Learner Outcomes for language arts grades K-8 and music grades 6-8 as presented by RoAnne Elliott. District Learner Outcomes are statements which indicate the instructional and learning focus for each grade level or course by identifying the information, skills and concepts that all students are expected to learn at each grade level or course. Karl Brown, director of instructional technology, presented a review of 2010 technology accomplishments including:
*Digital projectors are now available in about 90 percent of instructional spaces.
* Teacher training in now available online with communication and collaboration tools including Moodle, GoogleApps, Gradebook, teacher web pages and personal learning plans.
*Wireless access is now available for staff and students in all instructional spaces District-wide.
Brown also presented 2011-2012 technology plans which include a handheld technology initiative, teacher training on emerging technology and more.
The Board accepted, with appreciation, gifts from Wells Fargo Community Support Campaign, Mounds View Girls Hockey Boosters, Mustang Club, Residential Mortgage Group, Corporate Graphics Document Solutions, Cub Foods Arden Hills, Cub Foods New Brighton, Faith United Methodist Church and Bel Air Food Drive.
