Seven Members of the Turtle Lake Chess Club attend Regional TournamentKindergartener, Bryan L. took first place in the Kindergarten division. Third grader, Nathan S. won the Novice Award. And, third grader, Gabriel L. won the Golden Knight Award. As a team, third grade came in second, and Kindergarten came in first. Congratulations Chess Team on another great tournament! |
Fifth Grade makes Blankets to Benefit Ralph Reeder Food ShelfThis winter, the fifth grade, sponsored by the Student Council, raised money to purchase materials to make blankets. The fifth graders then measured, cut, and constructed blankets to donate to the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf. |

The whole school gathers for the Turtle Lake Choir Concert Directed by music teacher, Kathy Crockett, the 4th and 5th grade choirs performed a concert for the school on Thursday, January 24th. |
Gopher Hockey Player Visits 4th Grade!On January 27th, 4th grade students in Mrs. Haugen and Mrs. Pallansch’s class welcomed Gopher hockey player, Justin Bostrom into their classroom. Justin was able to take time out of his busy schedule to enhance a math-based “statistics of hockey” activity that the students track weekly. |
Jump Rope for Heart Event a SuccessThe American Heart Association’s “Jump Rope for Heart” Event took place at Turtle Lake on January 17th. All students in grades 1-5 collected pledges for the amount of time they could jump rope or hula-hoop and then participated in the event during their specialist time. The money raised will help benefit heart and stroke research. |

Turtle Lake Receives ExxonMobil Education Grant Turtle Lake had the pleasure of starting off the year with a ExxonMobil Education Grant of $500. This grant will work towards supporting the Star Lab program in science.
