My name is Darin Johnson, and I serve as the Student Services Assistant here at Turtle Lake Elementary School. I am currently in my twelfth year in the Mounds View Public School District. Prior to coming aboard here in the summer of 2007, I was a staff member at Island Lake and Snail Lake Elementary Schools, both in Mounds View.
In my role as the Student Services Assistant, I aim to develop trusting relationships with the students I work with. Whether assisting students in identifying positive behavioral choices or working with students who need support in solving problems, each child is cared for as a unique individual, and is respectfully treated as such. Our school’s theme of “Respect, Responsibility, and the Right to Learn!” drives the expectations we have for our students. These expectations, outlined in the Turtle Lake School Calendar and Family Handbook, identify the behaviors we encourage and actively teach our students. Our ultimate goal is to create a safe, nurturing environment in which each child has the opportunity to reach his/her maximum potential, both academically and socially.
