Bone Marrow Donor Drive in honor of Kay Trapp Monday, May 12th, 2:30-6:30 p.m., Turtle Hall
Turtle Lake is holding a bone marrow donor drive in honor of long-time colleague and school librarian, Kay Trapp. We acknowledge that many of our family members, friends, and community members have been affected by cancer and have been in need of or will be in need of a bone marrow transplant. We hope you will welcome this opportunity to honor those people and to be a part of this life-saving event.
Why should I do this? · Every day over 6,000 men, women, and children desperately search the National Donor Marrow Program Registry for a marrow match. · Only 3 in 10 people get the transplant that could save their lives. · Seventy percent of patients will not find a match within their own family. · Typically it costs $52.00 to join, but since we are hosting our drive during a national “Thanks, Mom” marrow donor campaign, you can join for AT NO COST TO YOU! · But, doesn’t it hurt? Joining the registry is a simple and painless process, no needles, no blood, just the simple swabbing of the inner cheek a few times, and filling out some forms. Visit www.marrow.org for more information about what it means to join the registry.
