  • Drum & Dance

    One of the activities that the Mounds View School District Native community runs is Drum and Dance. Students are able to meet with experienced dancers and a drum group to participate in lessons teaching various dances and drumming styles. Students can practice with the schools regalia for the upcoming school's annual pow wow.

    Drum & Dance will be held at Highview Middle School, 2300 7th Street NW, New Brighton from 6:30-7:30pm on the following Wednesday evenings:

    Traditional Crafts Workshop

    Several offerings will be available during the year to learn traditional beading, sewing, and other crafting. We have great instructors that share their talents and traditional ways. All instructions and materials are offered free of charge to students and families:

    Winter Storytelling & Potluck

    After enjoying a lovely meal together, families can gather around the storyteller to listen to native tales that entertain all. 

    The annual Winter Storytelling and Potluck date for the 2021-22 school year is to be determined. Stay tuned for details.


    Family Fun

    Each year we take family outings to allow for fun and learning for the whole family. Native students and their families can get to know each other while exploring new places.

    Dakota & Ojibwe language classes

    Language classes are offered through the Minneapolis American Indian Center, check their website for details.
