Minnesota Mammals come in all shapes and sizes, from huge bull moose to the tiny Pygmy Shrew. To the untrained eye, the woods may seem to be devoid of life. Student are introduced to the many mammals the reside there by practicing observation skills needed to recognize the abundance of life, even on the coldest winter days.
- Students will be able to list the four characteristics of a mammal.
- Students will define various ecological concepts including; adaptations, interdependence, population carrying capacity and communication.
- Students will identify signs of mammals.
- Students will explain the different roles or niches of a variety of mammal species found in Northern Minnesota.
