Work Based Learning
Students may earn up to two elective credits per year for paid employment or volunteer work . Each quarter, students should work or volunteer a minimum of 5 hours per week. Students, employer or volunteer supervisor, WBL coordinator and parent(s) must complete Training Agreement, Training Plan and WBL Contract. If on track for graduation, 11th and 12th grade students have the option of working during the school day. This is a team decision and must be approved by parent, case manager and dean.
Students will be evaluated by employer or volunteer supervisor each quarter. The evaluation will be reviewed with the student and then determined if work goals have been met. If so, new goals will be set to improve work skills. If not, goals will be adjusted in order for students to learn valuable work skills.
