    K-12 Writing Framework
Angie Peschel, director of curriculum and instruction, presented a report detailing the District’s status for implementing K-12 Common Core Writing Standards. With the help of teachers, the District has identified a plan for 2015-16 to increase intentionality and focus on the Common Core writing standards while creating alignment within the system. Lease for administrative space
In order to make room for future additional early childhood instructional space, the Board approved a resolution for leasing administrative space. This is the next step in a process that will allow administrative offices currently housed at Snail Lake Education Center to eventually vacate Snail Lake, returning the building to entirely instructional space. The approval of the resolution to lease administrative space enables the District to present a financing plan to the Minnesota Department of Education for authorization that would make funding available with administrative lease levy. If the financing plan is approved by MDE, the District will be free to pursue the next steps of negotiating a lease purchase agreement with Ramsey County to purchase the Shoreview library. The District has a letter of intent with Ramsey County which identifies the terms and conditions that would make this property available to the District. A formal agreement between the District and Ramsey County has not yet been made.

    Quarterly budgets and amendments
Carole Nielsen, director of finance, presented the revenue and expenditure reports for all funds for the third quarter ending March 31, 2015. Both revenues and expenditures are within budget for fiscal year 2014-2015 and are very comparable to this time last year. Nielsen also reported on the quarterly investment summary and budget amendments. As additional budgetary information becomes known, it is necessary to amend the District's budgets to reflect those changes. For more details, please visit the Budgets & Finance page at

The Board provided AMSD/legislative updates and 916 updates.
