    Ratification of Clerical Contract

The Board approved the proposed contract between the Mounds View Public Schools and the Clerical Union, as ratified by members of the Clerical Union of School Service Employees, Local 284, for 2015-17. Major contract points of the collective bargaining agreement include:
    • An increase to the salary schedule of 2% in year 1 and 2% in year 2.
    • A negotiated one-time payment in each year of the contract that does not create ongoing legacy costs.
    • Increase in 403(b) by $100 for an annual match of $1,600.
    • Total contract increase is 5.2 percent.

    Quarterly update and budget amendments

Carole Nielsen, director of finance, presented the revenue and expenditure reports for all funds for the second quarter ending December 31, 2015. Both revenues and expenditures are within budget for fiscal year 2015-2016 and are very comparable to this time last year. Nielsen also reported the quarterly budget amendments. As additional budgetary information becomes known, it is necessary to amend the District's budgets to reflect those changes. For more details, please visit the Budgets & Finance page at

    Budget assumptions

Carole Nielsen presented an updated report on budget assumptions for fiscal year 2016-2017. Each year at this time, school budget committees are formed to advise each school principal on the use of resources allocated to the site from the District's budget. Along with the resource allocation, committees are given a list of parameters and timelines to guide the process and ensure that budget decisions will be equitable across the District and will result in program integrity. Budget assumptions will be used in financial projections and in determining the final budget. The final 2016-2017 budget will be adopted in June 2016. Policy Governance

The first reading of Policy EG-3105-Minnesota Safe Schools Initiative - Bullying took place during the meeting. A second reading will take place on January 26, 2016.

The Board discussed issues and updates related to AMSD, 916 and Northwest Suburban Integration District.
