Bel Air Annual Staff vs 5th Gr Soccer Game

We are pleased to announce that it is time for the 32nd annual staff vs 5th grade soccer game! The match will be held on Friday, October 6th at 2 pm. We would love to see as many supporters as possible fill the stands at Bel Air Elementary as the 5th grade has promised to end the 31 year drought.  Hope to see you there!

    Start times: Share your thoughts

This fall, the School Board is reviewing the start times of all schools. To allow all families time to adjust schedules, a decision will be made before February 2017. Implementation of any alterations would occur in fall 2017. Parents have been invited via e-mail to participate in sharing their thoughts about start times online. Parents can also visit www.moundsviewschools.org/starttimes to access the link or to follow progress on this issue throughout the fall.

Volunteers are needed for Bel Air’s Vision and Hearing Screening on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 25 & 26. No experience is necessary and training will be provided.

Signup information will follow in the next Bel Air Update and in an email blast.

Vision screening will be done for all 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade students, as well as any students referred by teachers, parents, or case managers.

Hearing screening will be done for all 1st grade students, as well as any students referred by teachers, parents, or case managers.

Any student will be screened if there is a parent or teacher request, so please contact the school health office 651-621-6304 if you have a concern about your child’s vision or hearing.

The Licensed School Nurse reviews the screening results and sends home a written referral if further medical evaluation is recommended. If you have any questions, please contact Kathy Knutson, Licensed School Nurse, at 651-621-6378 or kathy.knutson@moundsviewschools.org
Students with vision and hearing deficits are often not aware of their problem, so they do not complain or seek help. Early identification and treatment can prevent or treat many of these problems. And learning is easier when students can see and hear clearly!

    Community Education Before/After School Activities

Welcome to a new school year!  Community Education will be offering many fun and educational before/after school activities for students in grades K - 12, during the school year.  In following the district's example of "going green" we are no longer distributing flyers for our Community Education activities.  To find out what is being offered by Community Education at your child's school, follow these easy steps:
    2.  Select "Our Schools"  and the name of your child's school.
    3.  On the left side of that schools webpage you will see a "Find it Fast" column, scroll down to "Sitemap" and click on it.
    4.  Scroll down on the new page to "News" and click on "E-flyers".  This will bring up flyers from not only Community Education but other organizations as well.  If  you click on any of the activities you will find registration forms and or flyers for that activity.
    5.  You will have the opportunity to print a flyer or if you wish to register online (Community Education activities only). Looking at the right side of this page, click on the appropriate link ie. Youth Enrichment, Middle School Enrichment for High School Activities and select the desired activity you wish to register for online.  All activities are listed by school name and then by name of activity.
New activities are always being added.  Check back frequently as many activities fill quickly.

Orchestra MVHS Orchestra's Young Person's Concert

The Mounds View High School Orchestras are presenting a Young Person’s concert Monday, September 26 & Tuesday, September 27 at 7:00 P.M. The Concert will be in the Mounds View High School cafeteria.  The address of the school is 1900 Lake Valentine Road, Arden Hills.

This year’s concert selections will feature famous characters from all across the universe, as they visit and perform with the orchestra.  It will include one extinct dinosaur, a Jedi Knight, a wizard from Hogwarts, as well as a few of our favorite super heroes!  Children of all ages are invited to come hear the orchestras perform, meet their favorite characters and be involved in the action.  We would love for them to come and even dress up as their favorite character! Kids will learn about the orchestra instruments, be able to try them out, and a few will even be able to conduct the orchestra!!  After the concert, kids can stay and meet orchestra members, get autographs, and take pictures with their favorite characters!

Blankets may be brought for floor seating.  Tickets are $3.00 for students and $5.00 for adults with a $20 family maximum.

    Hope to see you there!
