    We now have Hawk Pride Spirit wear available for our students!  Items may be ordered online at https://identitystores.com/Stores/StoreFront.aspx?StoreId=3269.  Orders will be accepted now through Monday, October 3rd and will be delivered to Highview the week of October 17th.   Hawk Pride!

     

    MATH TEAM

    The Math Team is open to all Highview students, regardless of math level. Practices and meets are held after school on Mondays. The club meets from September 26th through January 23rd. There are five meets throughout the season where our team gathers to compete (and win) against Chippewa, Edgewood, and Centennial Middle Schools. The team will be coached by Mr. Sheridan (Andrew.Sheridan@moundsviewschools.org) and Ms. Ritchie (Sandra.Ritchie@moundsviewschools.org) this year. Sign-up sheets are available at the front office or from any math teacher, and can be returned to anyone in the math department.

     

    YEARBOOK CLUB

    If you love taking photos, making pic collages, or are interested in graphic design, then yearbook is the perfect club for you!  We meet once a week after school, on Thursday's in Ms. Spindler's room (207).  We will take photos of all the awesome students and staff at different events throughout the year, and then refine our graphic design skills by putting together a fantastic yearbook!

     

    See the front office or Ms. Spindler (Jessica.Spindler@moundsviewschools.org) to sign up.  The first meeting is September 22nd afterschool, hope to see you there!

     

    ART CLUB

    WHO?  All students interested in ART can join the club- no previous experience is necessary!  

    WHAT?  Students will meet one day a week with access to a variety of materials. Together, we will decide the course of the club! Every art club meeting we’ll relax, make art, and have fun! We’ll finish up the Art Club with an awesome Art Party!

    WHERE? Room 174 (Ms. Valley’s classroom)

    WHEN?  Every Monday OR Tuesday from September 26 to December 13 from 2:45 – 4:00 pm. Activity buses are available. Regular attendance is expected on the day students are assigned.          

    WHY?  Art is FUN!  :)

    HOW?  Sign and return permission form Ms. Valley (Elise.Valley@moundsviewschools.org) has them in room 174

     

     SERVICE LEARNING CLUB

    Service Learning Club is a group where students take action to serve their community.  In the past, we have crocheted scarves for the homeless, collected coats for our local community, raised money for H20 for Life, participated in both Feed my Starving Children and in the PEACE Crane Project. We also look for ways to help our school community by cleaning desks, making someone's day,  and by volunteering to work in the school store-- The Nest.  The club meets every Tuesday until November 15th and then starting December 6th, it will meet every other Tuesday.  Contact Ms. Milan with any questions at Michele.Milan@moundsviewschools.org.

     

    AFTER-SCHOOL ACADEMIC SUPPORT

    After-school homework help runs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the school year from 2:55 to 4:00 PM.  Activity buses are available after school Monday through Thursday. 

     

    STRATEGY GAME CLUB

    If you are interested in learning new styles and new types of board games like Catan, Ticket to Ride, Acquire, 7 Wonders, Memoir 44', or Velociraptor! this is the group for you. We play cooperative and competitive games. Our first 2 meetings are "try it out" meetings. We will meet Wednesdays in the Cafeteria from 2:45 to 4pm.

    MUSIC OF THE KNIGHT

    Are you looking for high quality, family friendly entertainment?  Look no further than the Irondale High School Marching Knights Music of the Knight!

    Who: 13 high schools from Minnesota and Wisconsin

    What: Marching band field show competition

    When: Saturday, September 24, 2016.  First performance is at 5 pm.

    Where: Irondale High School Wendt Stadium

     The Marching Knights will perform their new show "Bound".

     

    ROCK THE SCHOOL HOUSE

    Early bird tickets to go on sale September 19 for "Rock the School House," a fundraising event supporting the Mounds View Schools Education Foundation. On Saturday, November 12, parents, educators and community leaders will gather at Vadnais Heights Commons from 6 - 11:00 p.m.


    The evening includes a wine toss, brief program, a live auction and fund-a-need.  This year, guests will be treated to some of our very best local talent!


    To purchase early-bird tickets beginning Sept. 19 ($60 until October 10) visit www.moundsviewschoolsef.org. Ticket includes heavy appetizers. There will be a cash bar offering beer, wine and mixed drinks.


    Last year’s event sold out in record time and raised more than $50,000 in support of Mounds View School district programs.  Since 1987, the Mounds View Schools Education Foundation has provided more than $1 million for programs that impact every school in our district.

    SAFE ROUTE TO SCHOOL TRAIL (Hanson Park Comprehensive Water Management Project)

    The Rice Creek Watershed District will be completing a comprehensive water management project which will impact the “Safe Route to Schooltrail through Hansen Park.  The “Safe Routes to Schooltrail will not be available for student use beginning fall of 2016 through fall of 2018.  In cooperation with the City of New Brighton, an alternative route for students to follow has been created.  We have contacted families who may be impacted by this change, but wanted to provide the information to all families.  Please contact the school or the City of New Brighton if you have additional questions. 

     

    KNIGHTKRAWLER ROBOBTICS

    Please join KnightKrawler Robotics for their FIRST Fair on Saturday, September 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Irondale High School in the upper and lower gyms.  Activities will include: dry ice bubble maker, stomp rockets, solar car racing, and driving a robot.  We will also have STEM Education information available.  This event is FREE and open to all...please come!  

     

    NFL PUNT, PASS AND KICK COMPETITION

    The Mounds View Police Dept. hosting the NFL Punt, Pass, and Kick Competition on the lower field at Edgewood Middle School, (5100 Edgewood Drive, Mounds View, MN 55112) for ages 6 to 15, on Saturday Sept. 17th 2016 at 3:00 p.m., Warm-ups and registration begin at 2:00 p.m. Visit the Mounds View Police Department’s Facebook Page for the link to register or contact the MVPD at 763-717-4070 for further information.

    The Mounds View Curriculum Advisory Committee is seeking representatives to serve on the committee for the 2016-2017 school year.  Committee members work in partnership with the district and community to gain knowledge and provide feedback about curriculum and other instructional issues.
