    All students who have not previously been photographed this school year will have their picture taken on Picture Retake Day on Friday, September 30.  All students must be photographed for the yearbook and for their school ID.

    If are interested in purchasing school photos, order forms are available in the school office or orders may be places online at mylifetouch.com.  Highview’s Picture Day ID is M1235134YO.

    If students wish to have their photo RETAKEN, they must bring their old photos to school with them on Picture Retake Day.  They should bring the photos to the Lifetouch photographer when they have their picture taken.


    We would like to invite all parents to join us for a Highview Parent Group Meeting on Monday, September 26th from 6:30-7:30 PM in our Learning Center.  Kari Hubbard, Highview Dean, will be first on our agenda speaking to our group about the role of the deans at Highview.  Sean Humphreys, Highivew STEAM Teacher, will follow by presenting information about Highview’s new Math and Science Innovation Labs.  Our meeting will conclude with a tour of our new Math and Science Innovation Labs.  Please join us!!

    Tickets are $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for students.  All middle school students need to be with an adult to purchase a ticket.

    The Scholastic Book Fair is coming!   We are looking for volunteers to help at the fair November 14-17, 2016. Please use this link to SignUp Genius to sign up!


    The Math Team is open to all Highview students, regardless of math level. Practices and meets are held after school on Mondays. The club meets from September 26th through January 23rd. There are five meets throughout the season where our team gathers to compete (and win) against Chippewa, Edgewood, and Centennial Middle Schools. The team will be coached by Mr. Sheridan (Andrew.Sheridan@moundsviewschools.org) and Ms. Ritchie (Sandra.Ritchie@moundsviewschools.org) this year. Sign-up sheets are available at the front office or from any math teacher, and can be returned to anyone in the math department. 


    This fall, the School Board is reviewing the start times of all schools. To allow all families time to adjust schedules, a decision will be made before February 2017. Implementation of any alterations would occur in fall 2017. Parents have been invited via e-mail to participate in sharing their thoughts about start times online. Parents can also visitwww.moundsviewschools.org/starttimes to access the link or to follow progress on this issue throughout the fall.


    You are invited to join us Tuesday evening, October 4, at 6:30 p.m. at the Irondale Varsity Gym for our Disney Pajama Concert. Bring your friends, wear your pajamas or favorite Disney character costume and get ready to sing along to your favorite Disney songs. Get a FREE Disney tattoo, courtesy of Varsity Orchestra and bring your camera to take a picture in front of our Disney princesses or Disney Cars backdrops!  We hope you will join us for this fun evening!     Parenting teens is hard—even when everything is going well.  It can feel impossible when difficulties arise.  Join us for an 8-session course facilitated by Mary Spicer, MA – Marriage and Family Therapy, and conducted in partnership with other parents like you.

    Participants will learn how to successfully parent their teen with less stress and more joy.  This parent-only class emphasizes hands-on learning and practical problem-solving skills.  Couples/Partners are encouraged to attend together.  The class is limited to 12 families with youth in the Mounds View School District.  Cost is $80 per parent group and includes a workbook.  Scholarships are available for those unable to afford the fee.  Call for details.     If you love taking photos, making pic collages, or are interested in graphic design, then yearbook is the perfect club for you!  We meet once a week after school, on Thursday's in Ms. Spindler's room (207).  We will take photos of all the awesome students and staff at different events throughout the year, and then refine our graphic design skills by putting together a fantastic yearbook!

    WHO?  All students interested in ART can join the club- no previous experience is necessary!  

    WHAT?  Students will meet one day a week with access to a variety of materials. Together, we will decide the course of the club! Every art club meeting we’ll relax, make art, and have fun! We’ll finish up the Art Club with an awesome Art Party!

    WHERE? Room 174 (Ms. Valley’s classroom)

    WHEN?  Every Monday OR Tuesday from September 26 to December 13 from 2:45 – 4:00 pm. Activity buses are available. Regular attendance is expected on the day students are assigned.          

    WHY?  Art is FUN!  :)

    Service Learning Club is a group where students take action to serve their community.  In the past, we have crocheted scarves for the homeless, collected coats for our local community, raised money for H20 for Life, participated in both Feed my Starving Children and in the PEACE Crane Project. We also look for ways to help our school community by cleaning desks, making someone's day,  and by volunteering to work in the school store-- The Nest.  The club meets every Tuesday until November 15th and then starting December 6th, it will meet every other Tuesday.  Contact Ms. Milan with any questions at Michele.Milan@moundsviewschools.org.



    After-school homework help runs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the school year from 2:55 to 4:00 PM.  Activity buses are available after school Monday through Thursday. 



    If you are interested in learning new styles and new types of board games like Catan, Ticket to Ride, Acquire, 7 Wonders, Memoir 44', or Velociraptor! this is the group for you. We play cooperative and competitive games. Our first 2 meetings are "try it out" meetings. We will meet Wednesdays in the Cafeteria from 2:45 to 4pm.

    Early bird tickets to go on sale September 19 for "Rock the School House," a fundraising event supporting the Mounds View Schools Education Foundation. On Saturday, November 12, parents, educators and community leaders will gather at Vadnais Heights Commons from 6 - 11:00 p.m.

    The evening includes a wine toss, brief program, a live auction and fund-a-need.  This year, guests will be treated to some of our very best local talent!

    To purchase early-bird tickets beginning Sept. 19 ($60 until October 10) visit www.moundsviewschoolsef.org. Ticket includes heavy appetizers. There will be a cash bar offering beer, wine and mixed drinks.

    Last year’s event sold out in record time and raised more than $50,000 in support of Mounds View School district programs.  Since 1987, the Mounds View Schools Education Foundation has provided more than $1 million for programs that impact every school in our district.

    The Mounds View Curriculum Advisory Committee is seeking representatives to serve on the committee for the 2016-2017 school year.  Committee members work in partnership with the district and community to gain knowledge and provide feedback about curriculum and other instructional issues.
