Box tops Box Tops For Education

Please clip the little pink Box Tops for Education  Last year Bel Air collected close to $2000 in Box Tops. These funds go directly to Bel Air to be used for school enhancements.  Please send any Box Tops you may have with your child and they can place them into the collection bag in their homeroom.

    Labels Labels for Education

Please continue to clip Labels for Education. Last year Bel Air collected close to 20,000 Labels for Education,  the program will be ending at the close of the 2016-2017 school year.  Over the years Bel Air has been able to provide the playground  and school many many extras.   These labels are also collected in the homerooms of your children.
    Thank you

We would like to invite all Bel Air and Valentine Hills parents to join us for our next Highview Parent Group Meeting on Tuesday, October 18 from 6:30-7:30 PM in the Highview  Learning Center.  Alison Feigh of the Jacob Wetterling Foundation will presenting an anti-bullying and internet safety message to parents.  She will be presenting a similar message to our 6th grade students earlier in the day.  It’s such an important topic.  We hope you can join us!!

Bel Air Elementary provides an opportunity for students to have their vision and hearing tested each year.

Volunteers are still needed for Bel Air’s Vision and Hearing Screening on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 25 and 26. No experience is necessary and training will be provided.

If you are interested, please use the following link to sign up:
Vision and Hearing Screening Volunteer Signup

Volunteers:  please be sure to have your background check done with Sue Cameron in the office if you have not yet done so. The background checks stay on file for up to 3 years.
Please make certain your student wears any prescribed glasses or contacts for the screening on Tuesday, October 25, and Wednesday, October 26, 2016.
Students with vision and hearing deficits are often not aware of their problem, so they do not complain or seek help. Early identification and treatment can prevent or alleviate many of these problems. And learning is easier when students can see and hear clearly!
    The following screenings are scheduled:
Vision screening will be done for all 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade students, as well as any students referred by teachers, parents, or case managers.
Hearing screening will be done for all 1st grade students, as well as any students referred by teachers, parents, or case managers.
Any student will be screened if there is a parent or teacher request, so please contact the school health office 651-621-6304 if you have a concern about your child’s vision or hearing.
The Licensed School Nurse reviews the screening results and sends home a written referral if further medical evaluation is recommended. If you have any questions, please contact Kathy Knutson, Licensed School Nurse, at 651-621-6378.

    Community Education Before/After School Activities

Welcome to a new school year!  Community Education will be offering many fun and educational before/after school activities for students in grades K - 12, during the school year.  In following the district's example of "going green" we are no longer distributing flyers for our Community Education activities.  To find out what is being offered by Community Education at your child's school, follow these easy steps:
    2.  Select "Our Schools"  and the name of your child's school.
    3.  On the left side of that schools webpage you will see a "Find it Fast" column, scroll down to "Sitemap" and click on it.
    4.  Scroll down on the new page to "News" and click on "E-flyers".  This will bring up flyers from not only Community Education but other organizations as well.  If  you click on any of the activities you will find registration forms and or flyers for that activity.
    5.  You will have the opportunity to print a flyer or if you wish to register online (Community Education activities only). Looking at the right side of this page, click on the appropriate link ie. Youth Enrichment, Middle School Enrichment for High School Activities and select the desired activity you wish to register for online.  All activities are listed by school name and then by name of activity.
New activities are always being added.  Check back frequently as many activities fill quickly.

    Building Security Procedures

A visitor screening system helps track visitors and volunteers at each school, providing a safe and monitored environment for students and staff. When parents come to pickup their child(ren), or visitors check in, they will be asked to present a valid state issued ID for entering into the system.
