Our upcoming STEAM class field trips are listed below. All field trips are FREE and will return back to Edgewood by 4:00 p.m. Students may take the after-school activity bus, walk home or be picked up by a parent. If your student is in any of the STEAM classes listed below, please remind them to get their permission forms signed and turned into the school office ASAP.
The "Edgewood Engineers" STEAM Class will be going on a field trip Friday, November 18, to the Irondale AP Physics Lab. During our trip, students will get a tour of the lab, conduct a fun engineering challenge, and be paired up with an AP Physics senior mentor student to help with their projects. Students will leave at 1:15 p.m. and return to Edgewood by 4:00 p.m. Permission forms should be turned in to Mr. Olofson or Mrs. Cushenberry ASAP. A copy of the permission form can be found here.The "School of Rock" STEAM Class will be going on a field trip Friday, November 18, to Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis to explore their state of the art acoustic and sound proofed hall. Students will leave at 1:10 p.m. and return to Edgewood by 2:40 p.m. Permission forms should be turned in to Ms. Cummings by Thursday, November 17. It's simple - just bring those old cell phones and chargers to your school office and put them in the designated box.Please turn off phones, erase sim cards, and reset to original factory settings. If an item does not work, the minerals in the electronics will be recycled for future electronics. If the item still works, it will be donated to people in need or resold. Any proceeds from resold items are donated environmental programs through the Minnesota Zoo. - Widespread support for later high school start times was expressed by all groups: parents, students, staff, and community members.
- This support far surpassed any other theme expressed, including a desire to not change start times.
- The greatest concerns and questions were related to the impact on students and families, with specific concerns about before- and after-school activities.
Join Irondale Orchestra for their fall concert on Thursday, November 17, at 7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium.Irondale WrestlingAny student interested in wrestling for the varsity or junior varsity team at Irondale is invited to Irondale High School for captains' practices starting immediately, Monday through Friday, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. in the Irondale Wrestling room. You are welcome to come up and watch or participate. In particular, wrestlers are needed at lower weights. Middle and high school students are eligible for the high school team.Season registration is through ParentVue-Feepay. (Please note that middle school athletes need to submit additional forms to participate in high school sports.) Regular season practice starts November 21 at 2:30 p.m. at the high school. - During any daytime food shelf appointment (Nov. 1 through Dec. 2) by calling 651-621-7451 to set up your appointment. You will receive food and your toy pick up times the same day.
- Wednesdays, November 9, 16, or 30, from 12:30-2:00 walk-in registration for toys - no need to make an appointment. Please bring: picture ID for yourself, current piece of mail (proof of residence), some form of identification on your children (medical cards, school IDs, birth certificates, or social security cards).
The following SEPPAC Meetings will take place from 6:45-8:15 p.m. at Snail Lake Education Center:November 17, 2016 - Chris Lennox, Superintendent of Mounds View Public Schools, will attend the SEPPAC meeting and will share his views on special education in the District. Food Taste Testing: Earn some extra $$CASH$$ and sample some really great food. All you have to do is log on and register at www.fpitesters.com.
Box Tops: Please save all of your box tops and turn them in at Edgewood. There is a drop box in the front office of the school. This is just another way to earn money for our kids. Please be sure Box Tops are not expired as they will not accept.
