    Attendance Line Reminder
     
    Just a friendly reminder that if your child will be out ill or for any other reason, you can call the 24-hour Attendance Line directly at 651-621-6601 and leave any pertinent information regarding your child's absence. 
     
     
    Student Pick-up and Drop-off Reminder
     
    If you pick up or drop off your student, please remember you MUST do so at the designated pick-up & drop-off areas along Edgewood Drive. DO NOT STOP AND WAIT ON COUNTY ROAD H as this is a safety hazard and could result in a citation by the local police officers. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. 
     
    5th Grade Information Night eagle
     
    5th grade families - please join Edgewood Middle School for our incoming 6th Grade Information Night on Tuesday evening, January 31. The program will begin at 7:00 p.m., with tours to follow. Families will have the opportunity to meet teachers and support staff, tour the building, learn about curriculum, as well as other opportunities available at Edgewood. We will also be featuring displays from the following STEAM Classes for you to check out: Edgewood Engineers, Wildcrafting, Green Genius, Book Publishing, and NatureScape. We hope to see you there!
    Westside Concerts symphony
     
    The Westside Music Festivals are just around the corner! There will be three concert nights featuring students from the Westside Schools (Bel Air, Pinewood, Sunnyside, Valentine, Edgewood, Highview, Irondale). All concerts will be held at Irondale High School.
     
    January 9: Orchestra Concert at 7:00 p.m.
     
    January 12: Choir Concert at 7:00 p.m.
     
    January 19: Band Concert at 7:00 p.m.
     
    Treat your talented student (and others!) to the Annual West Side Orchestra Bake Sale at the concert on January 9.
    Upcoming STEAM Class Field Trips Field Trip

    Our upcoming STEAM class field trips are listed below. All field trips are FREE and will return back to Edgewood by 4:00 p.m. Students may take the after-school activity bus, walk home or be picked up by a parent. If your student is in any of the STEAM classes listed below, please remind them to get their permission forms signed and turned into the school office ASAP.

    The "Puppets and You!" STEAM Class will be going on a field trip Friday, January 13, to Sunnyside Elementary School. During the field trip, students will present their puppets and a short puppet show to a 4th grade class before leading a short workshop with the elementary students on puppeteering. Students will leave at 1:20 p.m. and return to Edgewood at 2:40 p.m. Permission forms should be turned in to Mr. Perucco or Ms. Sayler by Wednesday, December 21.  A copy of the permission form can be found here.
     
    The "Make It Organic" STEAM Class has rescheduled their field trip to the Como Conservatory for Friday, January 13. Students will leave at 1:15 p.m. and return to Edgewood by 4:00 p.m. Students may either take the activity bus home or get a ride from a parent. Since this is a rescheduled field trip and we have already received permission for your student to go on this trip, you only need to let Ms. Miller know if your child will be unable to attend.
     
    The "Dogs & Jobs" STEAM Class will be going on a field trip to the Stone Mountain Pet Lodge in Blaine on Friday, January 13. Students will leave at 1:15 p.m. and return to Edgewood by 2:45 p.m. Please encourage your student to wear appropriate outdoor clothes. Students are allowed to bring the phones in order to take photos to use for their project. Permission forms should be returned by Wednesday, January 11.     The "Picture Perfect Publishing" STEAM Class will be going on a field trip Friday, January 20, to Sunnyside Elementary School. During the field trip, students will share their completed children's books with elementary students. Students will leave at 1:20 p.m. and return to Edgewood at 2:40 p.m. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Philaja or Mrs. Cook.
     
    The "1000 Paper Cranes" STEAM Class will be going on a field trip, Friday, January 20, to Sunnyside Elementary School. The class will be teaching the 4th graders how to fold origami cranes and will be sharing some of the facts we have learned from class so far. Students will leave at 1:20 p.m. and return to Edgewood by 2:45 p.m. Permission forms should be turned in to Mrs. Tomsche.  A copy of the form can be found here.
     
     LEC  7th Grade LEC Reminder
     
    This is a friendly reminder to turn in your LEC permission forms if you have not already done so.  One group will be scheduled to go March 6-8 and the other group March 8-10, 2017. Students will leave from Edgewood Middle School at 7:00 a.m. and return at approximately 4:00 p.m. Students will need to be picked up from Edgewood upon their return.     After-School Sports soccer basketball hockey swim snowboard

    Registration for winter sports (Basketball, Indoor Soccer, Floor Hockey, and Swimming) is now available online here. Winter Basketball will be starting on Monday, January 9, so register soon as space is limited. Girls will practice on Mondays and Wednesdays and boys will practice Tuesday and ThursdaysFor updated Skiing/Snowboarding information or cancellations due to weather, call the Ski Hotline at 651-621-7484 after noon on the day in question.      Upcoming STEAM Showcase STEAM

    Our upcoming STEAM Showcase will be on Wednesday, January 25, from  1:30 - 2:45 p.m. We are STILL IN NEED OF guest "judges" to help judge the students' work. Your time would consist of a brief orientation about the Showcase and then you will be assigned a class to "judge". Our hope is to have two or more judges per classroom. If you can help in any capacity, please contact Darcy LaPanta, STEAM Coordinator at darcy.lapanta@moundsviewschools.org.

    OUR EYES ARE ON IRONDALE 
     
     
      
    Irondale Drama
     
    Irondale Drama will be performing the musical show "It's Magic!" on Saturday, January 7, at noon at the Irondale High School Auditorium. Written by the Irondale Drama Department, it is the story of two kids who take a journey in search of their beloved dog, Rex. Along the way, they encounter a medley of Disney characters and experiences. It's a fun show for kids and adults alike. Tickets are available at the door. Cost is $6 for adults and $5 for kids/seniors.

    SEPPAC (Special Ed Parent and Professional Advisory Council) Meeting

    Please join us for the next SEPPAC Meeting which will take place from 6:45-8:15 p.m. at Snail Lake Education Center:

    EPAT- Edgewood parents & teachers
     

    Please join us for any of our EPAT meetings listed below. All meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. in the front office conference room. Please join us when you can.

    A limited supply of Locker Mates ($22) are available to keep your locker and yourself organized! Contact Ms. Mildenberger in the Front Office if you are interested in purchasing one. 
     
    Any school supplies and spirit wear are sold on behalf of EPAT. All funds are directed back to Edgewood for use by staff. 
     
    You can support Edgewood by participating in the below fundraisers:
     
    Food Taste Testing: Earn some extra $$CASH$$ and sample some really great food. All you have to do is log on and register at www.fpitesters.com.
     
    Box Tops: Please save all of your box tops and turn them in at Edgewood. There is a drop box in the front office of the school. This is just another way to earn money for our kids. Please be sure Box Tops are not expired as they will not accept
