PARENT MEETING REGARDING SPECIAL EDUCATION
February 2, 2017 Frequently Asked Special Education Questions 6:45 - 8:15 p.m. at Snail Lake Education Center
In response to the October, 2016 Special Education Parents Survey and the first Special Education Parent and Professional Advisory Council (SEPPAC) meeting attendees, SEPPAC will hold an informational meeting covering frequently asked special education questions. These frequently asked questions will include transition, educational evaluations, IEPs, communication, modifications including paraprofessional support, extra-curricular activities, etc.
Highview is still looking for parent volunteers to help chaperone the 6th grade field trip to the University of Minnesota on Monday, January 9th from 12:15 to 2:30 PM. Students will experience a 50-minute presentation that focuses on energy science and technology. The professors presenting the show discuss what energy is, where it comes from, how it can be used, where it can be stored, and how understanding energy science and technology is important for the leaders of tomorrow.

STRATEGY TABLE TOP GAMERS
If you are interested in learning new styles and new types of board games like Catan, Ticket to Ride, Acquire, 7 Wonders, Memoir 44', or Velociraptor! …then, this is the group for you. We play cooperative and competitive games. Our first 2 meetings are "try it out" meetings. We will meet Wednesdays in the Highview Cafeteria from 2:45 to 4:00 PM for the 2nd half of the year beginning Wednesday, January 4th.

If you want to learn or continue to play chess at the middle school level-- join this club! We will meet on Wednesday mornings starting January 4th from 7:00-7:45 AM. You will be provided with opportunities to play in tournaments or just have fun at the club meetings. Registration is now open for the 2nd half of the year!

8TH GRADE PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Highview is looking for 8th grade parent volunteers to help chaperone the 8th grade field trip to the Science Museum of Minnesota on Thursday, January 19th from 9 AM to 2:30 PM. Parents would accompany a small group of students throughout the museum. 8th graders will also be visiting the current exhibit called RACE: Are We So Different.
