    Students of the Month
    The Social Studies Department recognized students who demonstrated Eagle PRIDE and excelled academically in their content area during the month of December.  Congratulations to the following students: Eliza Kunz, Martin Monn, Brandon Singer, Kimberly Tellez, Josie Thomson, and Jack Zupfer.
     5th Grade Information Night eagle
    5th grade families - please join Edgewood Middle School for our incoming 6th Grade Information Night on Tuesday evening, January 31. The program will begin at 7:00 p.m., with tours to follow. Families will have the opportunity to meet teachers and support staff, tour the building, learn about curriculum, as well as other opportunities available at Edgewood. We will also be featuring displays from the following STEAM Classes for you to check out: Edgewood Engineers, Wildcrafting, Green Genius, Book Publishing, and NatureScape. We hope to see you there!
    Honor Band Concert - Chippewa Middle School
    Join us for the Mounds View School District Honor Band concert on Monday evening, January 16, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Chippewa Middle School. This select ensemble includes students from Edgewood, Highview, and Chippewa Middle Schools. They will be performing under the direction of guest conductor Dr. Peter Haberman. Admission is free...please join us!
    Westside Band Concertsymphony
    The Westside Band Festival will be January 19 at 7:00 p.m. featuring students from the Westside Schools (Bel Air, Pinewood, Sunnyside, Valentine, Edgewood, Highview, Irondale). The concert will be held at Irondale High School.
    Upcoming STEAM Class Field Trips Field Trip

    Our upcoming STEAM class field trips are listed below. All field trips are FREE and will return back to Edgewood by 4:00 p.m. Students may take the after-school activity bus, walk home or be picked up by a parent. If your student is in any of the STEAM classes listed below, please remind them to get their permission forms signed and turned into the school office ASAP.

    Reminder that the following STEAM Classes are on field trips Friday, January 13: Puppets & You! to Sunnyside Elementary, Make It Organic to Como Conservatory, and Dogs & Jobs to Stone Mountain Pet Lodge.
    The "Wildcrafting" STEAM Class will be going on a field trip Friday, January 20, to Ft. Snelling State Park in St. Paul. Students will be testing the snowshoes they have been building for most of the first semester.  In case the student-made snowshoes are ineffective, we will also have snowshoes available from the park. Students will leave at 1:20 p.m. and return to Edgewood by 4:00 p.m. to ride the activity buses home. Being we will be outside, please be sure your student is dressed for the weather. Students will absolutely need:
    • Warm gloves or mittens
    • Warm WINTER boots
    • A WINTER jacket
    • Snow pants
    • Water bottle
    • A small snack
    If you are unable to bring these things, please talk to Mr. Johnson or Mr. Bias by January 18. Permission forms need to be turned in ASAP. A copy of the permission form can be found here
    The "Picture Perfect Publishing" STEAM Class will be going on a field trip Friday, January 20, to Sunnyside Elementary School. During the field trip, students will share their completed children's books with elementary students. Students will leave at 1:20 p.m. and return to Edgewood at 2:40 p.m. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Philaja or Mrs. Cook.
    The "1000 Paper Cranes" STEAM Class will be going on a field trip, Friday, January 20, to Sunnyside Elementary School. The class will be teaching the 4th graders how to fold origami cranes and will be sharing some of the facts we have learned from class so far. Students will leave at 1:20 p.m. and return to Edgewood by 2:45 p.m. Permission forms should be turned in to Mrs. Tomsche.  A copy of the form can be found here.
    The "EV3 Lego Robotics" STEAM Class will be going on a field trip Friday, January 20, to the Minnesota Science Museum to explore the new exhibit, Robotics in Science, to get ideas on how to present Robotics for their Showcase project. Students will leave at 1:20 p.m. and return to Edgewood by 4:00 p.m. to take the activity buses home. Permission forms need to be turned in to Ms. Beethe ASAP.     Teen Leaders Club Pizza Party
    Edgewood students are invited to the Annual Teen Leaders Club Informational Meeting and Pizza Party on Tuesday, January 17, from 3:00-4:30 p.m. at the Mounds View Community Center.
    Teen leaders Club is a FREE after-school program for Edgewood students at the Mounds View Community Center. Teen Leaders Club focuses on Service Learning, Leadership Development, and fun! Students will also be participating in field trips, team building, arts and crafts, and gym games. TLC meets Monday through Thursday each week from 3:00-4:30 p.m. (Participants must attend two times a week in order to attend field trips). Registration forms can be turned in to the Edgewood Middle School office or at TLC. A copy of the registration form can be found here.      Upcoming STEAM Showcase STEAM

    Our upcoming STEAM Showcase will be on Wednesday, January 25, from  1:30 - 2:45 p.m. We are STILL IN NEED OF guest "judges" to help judge the students' work. Your time would consist of a brief orientation about the Showcase and then you will be assigned a class to "judge". Our hope is to have two or more judges per classroom.     8th Grade Appreciation Night
    8th Grade Families - Join Irondale High School on Friday, January 20, beginning at 6:00 p.m. for our 8th Grade Appreciation Night. This is a great opportunity to tour Irondale High School as there will be student/athletes that will take groups of kids on a guided tour of our facilities. A couple of high school Deans will be available to help answer any academic questions. Free coffee and treats for parents who want to attend the event. This highlights all of the great opportunities that we offer student athletes at Irondale High School. Please sign in at the front entrance when you arrive at Irondale.
    Then join us at 7:00 p.m. as our Girls Varsity Basketball Team is playing Park Center. The theme is Hawaiian Night so come dressed up if you'd like. Admission is free with a bracelet (contact your Dean or Edgewood/Highview front office by the end of the school day on Friday). Please remember that the event will conclude at 8:30 p.m. and your student will need to have a ride scheduled to get home.  Thank for your support and Go Knights!     8th Grade Information Night
    Irondale High School will be hosting their 8th Grade Information Night on Thursday, February 2, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity to learn about all of the activities and sports that are offered at Irondale. We hope to see you there! 
    Bandcake Breakfast
    Irondale Bands invites you to their annual "All-You-Can-Eat Bandcake Breakfast" on Saturday, January 21, from 8:00-11:00 a.m. at the Eagles Club, 563 Old Highway 8 NE, New Brighton. There will be pancakes, sausage, fruit, milk, coffee, and orange juice. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased at the Westside Band Festival held at Irondale on Thursday, January 19, or at the door on Saturday morning. Looking forward to seeing you and thanks in advance for supporting the Irondale Band Program.

    SEPPAC (Special Ed Parent and Professional Advisory Council) Meeting

    Please join us for the next SEPPAC Meeting which will take place from 6:45-8:15 p.m. at Snail Lake Education Center:

    February 2, 2017 - In response to the October 2016 Special Education Parent Survey and the first Special Education Parent and Professional Advisory Council (SEPPAC) meeting attendees, SEPPAC will hold an informational meeting covering frequently asked special education questions. These frequently asked questions will include transition, educational evaluations, IEPs, communication, modifications including para support, extra-curricular activities, etc.
    April 20, 2017 - Back by popular demand, this meeting will have students sharing their experience in a variety of post-secondary options as well as information about resources available to their students and their parents for their own planning.

    If you pick up or drop off your student, please remember you MUST do so at the designated pick-up & drop-off areas along Edgewood Drive. DO NOT STOP AND WAIT ON COUNTY ROAD H as this is a safety hazard and could result in a citation by the local police officers.     EPAT- Edgewood parents & teachers

    Please join us for any of our EPAT meetings listed below. All meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. in the front office conference room. Please join us when you can.

    A limited supply of Locker Mates ($22) are available to keep your locker and yourself organized! Contact Ms. Mildenberger in the Front Office if you are interested in purchasing one. 
    Any school supplies and spirit wear are sold on behalf of EPAT. All funds are directed back to Edgewood for use by staff. 
    You can support Edgewood by participating in the below fundraisers:
    Food Taste Testing: Earn some extra $$CASH$$ and sample some really great food. All you have to do is log on and register at www.fpitesters.com.
    Box Tops: Please save all of your box tops and turn them in at Edgewood. There is a drop box in the front office of the school. This is just another way to earn money for our kids. Please be sure Box Tops are not expired as they will not accept
