The opening ceremony is at 10 am, with children's crafts all day, the architect's design presentation at 11:30am, MVHS Orchestra at 12:30pm, ice sculpture demo 12-1:30pm, a comedy show at 2pm, and caricature sketches 1:30-4:30pm, along with tours and other activities.  We hope you can join us!

The Viewettes Dance Team will be hosting the 11th annual Winterfest Invitational at MVHS on Saturday, January 28.   We will be hosting 26 schools and over 700 dancers!  An event of this size cannot be successful with A LOT of volunteers.  This is a great opportunity to gain volunteer hours and support the Viewettes and Mounds View High School.  Anyone who volunteers for more than 4 hours will receive a ½ price coupon for the cafeteria.  If you would like to help, please use this link to access the Sign Up Genius (if you are unable to click on it you can copy and paste it into your browser):  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0948a8ad2ea31-winterfest

In response to the October 2016 Special Education Parents Survey and the first Special Education Parent and Professional Advisory Council (SEPPAC) meeting attendees, SEPPAC will hold an informational meeting covering frequently asked special education questions. These frequently asked questions will include: transition, educational evaluations, IEPs, communication, modifications including para support, extra curricular activities, etc.

Saturday, February 4, from 8:45am-12:35pm, Chippewa will host 11 Science Olympiad teams for a regional competition.  Science Olympiad is a team-oriented experience in which students compete in 'events' pertaining to various scientific disciplines including: earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering.  There are many exciting "build" events for spectators to watch, all of which showcase students ability to design and problem solve.  If you are interested in learning more about the experience, please consider coming to watch and cheer on Chippewa's highly successful teams.

Candy Grams will be available for purchase the week prior to Valentine’s Day.  Students will be able to purchase candy grams from February 6- February 10 during their lunch.  All candy grams will be delivered to students by Student Council on Tuesday, February 14. Candy Grams cost $1.00 for one sucker OR 6 for $5.00.

Student Council will be hosting a dodgeball tournament Friday, February 10 for all students to participate in.  Students can find the team sign-up sheets in the back office starting January 30 - February 9.  Each team should consist of 6-10 players.  Alongside the tournament, a movie will be playing in the auditorium for those kids that want a more relaxing afternoon.  Wristbands for the event will cost $5.  Pizza and snacks will be available for purchase.  A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Quincy Treehouse.

Turtle Lake’s annual carnival is soon approaching on Saturday, March 4, from 11-3pm.  In order for this day to be a success, it requires lots of hands.  Please consider signing up to help out.  This is a great opportunity for both parents and former Turtle Lake students.  If you have any questions, please contact Stefanie Wilkinson, carnival volunteer coordinator, at 651-336-7192 or jswilkinson12@yahoo.com.  Turtle Lake thanks you in advance.
