    COMMUNITY EDUCATION UPDATE

    HIGHVIEW SPRING MUSICAL

    Join the Highview Middle School cast and crew as they present “Beauty and the Beast, Jr. “ on Thursday and Friday, March 2nd and 3rd at 7:00 PM and again on Saturday, March 4th at 2:00 PM.    Doors will open and tickets will be available one- half hour prior to show time. 

     

    Tickets for the performance are $5.00.  Tickets will be sold during lunches the week of the performance and will also be available at the door.   Pre-sale tickets are now on sale for members of the cast and crew.  Parents of cast and crew members-- letters regarding pre-sale tickets were sent home last week.  Tickets will also be available in the school office beginning Monday, February 27th. 

     

    Come early and buy a cast or crew member a star for $1.00 and write a personal message to your special student.  Stars will be delivered backstage before the performance. 

     

    There will be no reserved seating and seats fill fast, so please plan accordingly.  

     

     We hope to see you there!!

     

    HIGHVIEW STUDENT PLANNER DESIGN CONTEST

    Would you like to help design the cover for the 2017-2018 Highview Student Planner?  We are now accepting submissions from current 6th and 7th students for this annual contest. 

                         

    Guidelines for submissions include

     

    Designs must be submitted on 8 ½” x 11” piece of white paper. 
    The design must fit inside a 7 ¼” wide by 9 ½” high space on the paper. 
    The designs may be in color. 
    Submissions should include something about Highview or Hawk Pride
    Remember to include your name and grade on the back.
    Submissions must be received in the office by Friday, March 31.

    NEW BRIGHTON STOCKYARD DAYS BUTTON AND T-SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST

    One winner will be chosen from Highview!  $50 cash prize and $50 Stockyard Days Tickets for the winner!  All entrees must be black, white and one other color only.  The logo, “Herding Together at Stockyard Days 2017” can be anywhere on the button.  Button size is 2.5 inches across. 

     

    Contest runs from March 1 through March 27.  Entrees can be turned in the Highview Office. Contact Tarii Klose at 651-497-5309 with any questions.

     

    SPANISH IMMERSION WEEKEND – DEADLINE EXTENDED

    Attention all Mounds View Middle School students!  Come to Concordia Language Villages with us this May!

    What:  Spanish Immersion weekend in Bemidji, MN 

    When: May 11-14th (Thursday- Sunday) 

    Theme of the Camp:  The theme for the Spanish village weekend this year is El Camino Andino.  Concordia will be focusing the program on the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela.

    Cost: $320 includes round trip transportation, lodging, meals and all programming.

    MOUNDS VIEW HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

    Attention 7th and 8th grade girls interested in participating in track and field this spring at Mounds View High School. Please plan on attending the "Back to Track" informational meeting on Tuesday March 7 at 7 pm in the Mounds View High School Auditorium. It is mandatory for all those planning to participate.     FREE IRONDALE YOUTH WRESTLING CLINIC

    Date:  March 6-9, 2017 Additional dates may be added.

    Time:  6:00-7:30 PM Monday through Thursday

    Place:  Irondale High School Wrestling Room. 

    Description:  Introduce future KNIGHTS to the wrestling staff and participants.  Learn wrestling technique and rules.  Have fun!!!  Please wear shorts, t-shirt and soft-sole shoes.

    The Winter Table Top Game Festival will be in the Irondale High School Cafeteria on Friday, February the 24th from 6:00-10:00 PM!

     

    There will be Free Open Gaming, an Open 6th Grade to Adult Ticket to Ride Tournament, an Open 6th to Adult Acquire Tournament, and an Open K-12th Grade Chess Tournament. Who will have the longer route?

    6th GRADE PARENTS AND STUDENTS

    Mark your calendars!  We are very excited to announce an opportunity for our 7th grade students (2017-2018 School Year) to spend 3 days and 2 nights of educational and team-building activities in the north woods of Minnesota at the Laurentian Environmental Center. 

     

    Highview will have two trips.  The first trip will be Monday, October 23-25, 2017; the second trip will be Wednesday, October 25 through Friday, October 27, 2017.

    7TH GRADE PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

    On Friday, March 10th from 1:00-2:30 the 7th graders will be showcasing their Infectious Disease projects.  We are looking for parent volunteers to help evaluate projects and provide feedback to students about their infectious disease product.  Please follow the Sign Up Genius link below to register.  We are hoping to get at least 20 volunteers.  If you have questions, please contact your child's Science teacher or Vickie Woehrle at vickie.woehrle@moundsviewschools.org.
