Please join us for our last EPAT (Edgewood Parents and Teachers) meeting of the school year on Monday, April 17, at 5:30 p.m. in the front office conference room. Please join us if you can. We are looking for parents to take over a few roles as we have current EPAT members moving on with their 8th graders next year.  Please attend this meeting if you are interested in finding out more about available positions. Attention 7th Grade Parents

The entire 7th Grade Class will be taking a field trip on Tuesday, April 25, to see the production of The Diary of Anne Frank at the Park Square Theatre in St. Paul. Students have studied the Holocaust in Perspectives and this play will be an extension of their learning. Students will leave Edgewood at 9:00 a.m. and return to Edgewood at approximately 1:00 p.m. Students will eat a late lunch in the cafeteria when we return. This is a FREE all-grade level trip tied to the curriculum in Perspectives so students are expected to attend this event.  However, it a student is able to go on the trip, an alternate assignment will be completed at school that day. If you haven't already done so, please fill out the permission form and have your student turn it in to the front office ASAP. A copy of the permission form can be found here.

    Start Times Update

At the April 11 School Board meeting, the administration presented an additional start times option that was developed with the help of a transportation consultant. The Board discussed the advantages and challenges of the additional option and compared it to the previous options shared with the community. In agreement with the medical evidence and research that later high school start times would better align with teens’ unique sleep needs, the Board indicated a preference for an option that features an 8:35 a.m. high school start time. To review the two options that feature an 8:35 a.m. high school start time, and to provide feedback on the options, please visit www.moundsviewschools.org/starttimes. The Board will review the feedback and make a decision at the April 25 Board meeting for implementation in fall 2018.

    REMINDERS

Reminder from Mounds View PD  police badge

The Mounds View Police Department would like to remind our families about community safety, especially walking to and from school and at school bus stops. We would like our families to remind their students to be aware of unknown people and vehicles that may try to approach or speak with our kids. It is equally important to remind our kids to never approach a vehicle or person that they do not know, and to leave the area and get somewhere safe should this ever occur. We encourage all of our students and families to immediately report any suspicious behavior or incidents to the Police. Please take the time to speak with your student as their safety is important to all of us here at Edgewood and in the community.

    school attendance  Line Reminder

Just a friendly reminder that if your child will be out ill or for any other reason, you can call the 24-hour Attendance Line directly at 651-621-6601 and leave any pertinent information regarding your child's absence

Student Pick-up and Drop-off Reminder  parking

If you pick up or drop off your student, please remember you MUST do so at the designated pick-up & drop-off areas along Edgewood Drive. DO NOT STOP AND WAIT ON COUNTY ROAD H as this is a safety hazard and could result in a citation by the local police officers.
