    No school for students

Highview parents are invited to join Dr. Sheila Eller for some coffee and conversation on Tuesday, April 18 in the Highview Middle School Innovation Lab.   Choose one time:  7:30-8:15 AM; 11:30 AM -12:15 PM; or 6:30-7:15 PM.

    Agenda items include:

    • Updates for the 2017-2018 School Year
    • The recent facilities study done by the District
    • Hawk Pride/The Highview Way
    • Creating a formal parent group

There will be time available for a question and answer period.  We hope you can join us!  Hawk Pride!

Beginning Monday, April 10, we will be implementing some traffic flow changes at Highview Middle School to provide a safer environment for students, parents and staff. While we plan to have signage and crossing guards in place next week to alert you to the changes, I wanted to reach out to you in advance with a quick explanation of the changes.

    • Parents must drop students off in the small parking lot in front of the school. We are asking parents not to enter the bus lanes.
    • Parents will no longer be allowed in the bus loading area between the hours of 7:15 - 8 a.m. and 2:15 - 3 p.m.
    • Parents using the parent pick-up/drop-off area will now be required to take a right turn only when exiting the parking lot.
    • Beginning Wednesday, April 12th, there will be student crossing guards on 7th Street to help assist students crossing 7th Street.

We believe all of the changes combined will help alleviate the current congestion and safety issues we’re experiencing.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.  If you have any questions please feel free to send me an email at sheila.eller@moundsviewschools.org.

This week, District Health Services staff  have been notifying school families impacted by the recent EpiPen recall. According to the FDA, “this recall is due to the potential that these devices may contain a defective part that may result in the devices’ failure to activate.”

Health Office staff have checked the EpiPens stored in all schools, examining their lot numbers and expiration dates. If an EpiPen was found to be included in the recall, a parent or guardian has been contacted individually.  If any student or staff member has an EpiPen that is part of the recall, they are advised to follow these steps, and then call their pharmacist. Do not throw away the EpiPen until it has been replaced. For more information, visit here.
