Test drivers are needed!  Please help support Irondale’s Girls Swim and Dive Team, Bands, Boys and Girls Lacrosse, Dance Team and Wrestling this Saturday (April 15th) from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Drive 4 UR School Fundraising Event, at New Brighton Ford (1100 Silver Lake Rd.)  Our goal is to have 300 people test drivers to reach $6000 donation.  There is absolutely no sales pitch!  It is easy.  Take a quick test drive and Ford will donate $20 to the booster club of your choice.  All drivers must be 18 or older and there is a limit of one driver per household.  Bring your driver’s license and proof of insurance with you to the event.  Please call your family and friends and ask them to help.

Attention all Sixth and Seventh Grade Students!  Are you an artist?  Are you creative?  Do you have some bold ideas?  We are looking for a new cover for next year's student planner!  We will be accepting entries for the cover design for the next few weeks.  If you'd like to participate, please create a design on a half sheet of paper (8 1/2 by 5 1/2) and submit it to the front office by Friday, April 21.  It should say "Chippewa Middle School" and "2017-18" somewhere on the cover.  A panel of judges will pick from the entries and the winner will be announced in May.  We are eager to see the creative and fun pieces you come up with!

The following students will be traveling to Atlanta, GA in June to compete in the National History Bee.  Good luck to them all!

Congratulations to 8th grader Kishanth Balamurugan, who won 5th place at the MN State Geography Bee!

The Bee was held in March at Minnesota State University at Mankato.  This is the 2nd time Kishanth has placed 5th in the State Bee.

Don't forget to re-register for the Spring Session!  Many participants register by the quarter so it's easy to forget.  So many games left to play before the end of the year…  Use this link or go to the MV Community Ed Website.

At the April 11 School Board meeting, the administration presented an additional start times option that was developed with the help of a transportation consultant. The Board discussed the advantages and challenges of the additional option and compared it to the previous options shared with the community. In agreement with the medical evidence and research that later high school start times would better align with teens’ unique sleep needs, the Board indicated a preference for an option that features an 8:35 a.m. high school start time. To review the two options that feature an 8:35 a.m. high school start time, and to provide feedback on the options, please visit www.moundsviewschools.org/starttimes. The Board will review the feedback and make a decision at the April 25 Board meeting for implementation in fall 2018.

Please bring in your old Newspapers to help out our Science Department.  The 6th graders will be "Saving the Penguins" in early May.

Drop off any old newspapers in the front office of Chippewa.  We appreciate the help.
