Oral Histories give us insight into the everyday lives of common people from different time periods. Seventh graders conducted interviews with members in their community to better understand the similarities and differences they share. The project provides a meaningful vehicle for developing speaking, writing and listening skills, as well as building bridges between generations. The unit culminates with students transcribing the interviews and sending them to interviewees as a gift meant to preserve their histories.Orientation and PicnicJoin us on Friday, August 25, from 7:00-10:00 a.m. for Orientation only or Monday, August 28, from 4:00-7:30 p.m. for Orientation and 4:30-6:00 p.m. for dinner. The sixth grade will go bowling at the Mermaid from 8:15-10:30 a.m., the seventh grade will go to the Wynnsong Movie Theater from 11:45 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and the 8th grade will go to Silver View Park from 9:00 am.-1:00 p.m. and will have their talent show from 1:00-2:45 p.m. Sixth & seventh graders will have their lunch at school and a grill-out will provided to the 8th graders at the park. Plastic bags are a huge problem for the environment, and we are trying to do our part. Please bring your empty plastic bags to your grade box in the lobby. At the end of the month, the boxes will be checked, weighed, and brought to the recycling center. The grade level winner will be announced at the end of the month.STEAM Ahead to SUMMER!We are now accepting registrations for Mounds View Schools Community Education Summer Camps. Brochures are available at Edgewood in the Front Office and Student Services. Community Ed is offering a large number of STEAM classes that will educate, engage and motivate while being just plain FUN! Whether your child is a budding artist, a serious scientist or enjoys knowing how things work. There is something for everyone! We also offer a large number of skill building sports for students entering grades 1-12.
During the summer, we accept students from other districts. Sign up with a friend or relative to enjoy activities even more.

Box Tops: Please save all of your box tops and turn them in at Edgewood. There is a drop box in the front office of the school. This is just another way to earn money for our kids. Please be sure Box Tops are not expired as they will not accept.
