Title One at Pinewood Elementary School
Pinewood is a Title One School. Title One funds are used to support students with additional literacy needs.
A core component of our balanced literacy model at Pinewood focuses on using frequent formative and summative assessments in order to provide specific feedback to students and guide instructional decisions. Key amongst these instructional decisions, is the identification of students who need extra support in the area of literacy. District-wide criteria is utilized to help with early identification of students who would benefit from additional literacy support. Students who demonstrate a need for intervention, are provided with daily support that matches the student’s individual need, connects to quality core classroom instruction, and is aligned to our district intervention framework. Students receiving intervention meet with an intervention teacher until district established proficiency targets are met.
