HIGHVIEW SUMMER READING CHALLENGE
Reading can take you to many different places without even leaving your chair! We want to know about all the fun and exciting places YOU visit this summer in your reading! Follow the steps below to access the directions on how to participate in the Highview Summer Reading Adventure!
Go to: https://www.moundsviewschools.org/highview
Click on the “Department” Tab and find “Library/Media Center” and click on it. This will bring you to Highview’s Learning Center website.
Scroll down and click on “Summer Reading Directions” and a video will explain how to track your summer reading destinations.

HIGHVIEW YEARBOOKS
Highview yearbook orders will be handed out during period 1 on Monday, June 5th. There are a limited number of extra copies that will be on sale for $21 (soft cover) and $26 (hard cover) on Monday.

If your child has medication in the Highview Health Office, please stop by and pick it up before the end of the school year. Medications not picked up by the end of the school year will be destroyed. If you have questions, please contact Keri Rudnick in the Health Office: 651-621-6704
MARK YOUR CALENDARS
Mark your calendars now for Highview Hawk Pride Welcome Back Day on Wednesday, August 23 from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. Teachers will be here from 5:00-7:00 PM. Students will get their school photos taken; get their schedule and their locker assignment and more! Watch for a mailing to come to your house via U.S. Mail this summer with more information.

NEW DEAN AT HIGHVIEW
Highview Dean, Jeff Nowak, has accepted a dean position at Mounds View High School. Jeff has been with us for the past five years. He has enjoyed connecting with students and families and being a part of the Highview Community. He is very excited to be joining the MVHS Dean Team and continue his commitment to Mounds View School District Community.
We would like to welcome Caleb Bjorklund as the new O-Z Dean at Highview Middle School Mr. Bjorklund has been working in education for the past twelve years; the last six years as a Dean of Students at Mounds View High School. . Mr. Bjorklund has an undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota and a graduate degree from St. Cloud State University in School Counseling. His wife works in education and his children attend Highview and Valentine Hill Schools. He is excited to join the Highview family and begin working with students and families. Hawk Pride!
60-SECOND VIDEO REVEALS SCHOOLS’ SPACE CRUNCH
This month, the District produced a video revealing the reality of schools stressed beyond capacity. In addition, a new website shares school-specific details of capacity challenges discovered by the recent facilities task force. At its May 16 meeting, the School Board discussed a facilities development proposal addressing the identified needs across the District and estimating the associated costs. The Board has requested that the administration create an accompanying timeline that would eventually allow it to propose a bond referendum for Election Day, November 7, 2017
IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO REGISTER FOR COMMUNITY ED SUMMER CAMPS
There is still time to register your student for Mounds View Community Education Summer Camps. Camps are offered in art, science, technology, engineering, acting, singing, chess, Spanish, and many different sports. Most camps are open to students entering grades 1-12. There’s something for everyone! The camps are fun, educational, and engaging.
Registrations are accepted online and by mail only. To view camps and/or to register, visit the Community Education Website at www.moundsviewschools.org; Click on Community Education; Click on Youth Programs; Click on Summer Camps 2017. You can also find camps by going to the schools webpage and clicking on E-Flyers and Community Education Summer Camps.
Students attending school in the Mounds View School District during the 2016/2017 school year, and qualify for free/reduced lunch may be eligible for partial scholarships. Call the Community Education Office at 651-621-7400.
