    SCHOOLKIDZ SchoolKidz Kits have arrived!

    For those families who ordered school supplies online through SchoolKidz, they have arrived! You can pick them up in the front office tomorrow, September 1, between 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. We apologize for the inconvenience and we thank you for your patience.

    Edgewood staff would like to thank all the families that brought in a food item for their welcome back luncheon on Monday, August 28. The variety was amazing and the food was delicious!  We very much appreciate our Edgewood families and we look forward to a wonderful year.
    Back to school Back to School Information
    School resumes on Tuesday, September 5, for incoming 6th graders ONLY. Sixth grade parents are welcome to join Principal Penny Howard for "Coffee with the Principal" that Tuesday morning from 8-8:45 a.m. in the LMC to share any questions or concerns you might have about middle school.

    no cellphone Edgewood Personal Device Policy
    ***PLEASE READ*** Students will be allowed to use personal devices such as cell phones before and after school, during passing time in the hallway, and during lunch time. Headphones are not to be worn (in hallways or classrooms) during the school day from 8:05 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
    With the addition of more electronic devices in classrooms this year, student should no longer need to use personal devices for academic purposes. Beginning this year, students should not have devices out in classrooms during instructional time. When they enter classrooms, devices must be put away and OUT OF SIGHT.
    Devices used during this prohibited time will be turned over to the staff to be picked up in Student Services at the end of the school day (2:45 p.m.).

    LEC Information
    This year's 7th Grade Trip to LEC will be held during the week of October 30-November 3, 2017. The first 100 students to turn in their registration forms will get to choose if they want to attend Trip #1 from October 30-November 1 or Trip #2 from November 1-3, 2017.     Freaky Friday Freaky Friday Event
    Our first back-to-school event is Friday, September 15, from 2:45-4:30 p.m. hosted by EPAT. The event will include music, games, food, dancing, movie and fun! EPAT is looking for volunteers to help make the event successful. Times needed for volunteers are as follows:
    1:45-2:30 p.m. Set-up
    2:45-4:30 p.m. Event (Gym, Ticket Sales, Food, Games, Movie Room)
    4:30-5:00 p.m. Clean-up
    If you can help out during any of the times, please contact Shannon at shannon.mildenberger@moundsviewschools.org and note your preferred volunteer areas.
    Breakfast Nutrition Services
    The September menu is available now! Click here for menus or find them on the District app. The 2017-18 Application for Educational Benefits is now available online here. Paper applications will also be available at all schools in English and Spanish.

    Elementary Lunch: $2.55
    Secondary Lunch: $2.80
    1st-12th Breakfast: $1.50 (Kindergarten is free)
    Milk: $.50

    Adult Lunch:  $3.85

    Adult Breakfast:  $2.25

    Families can see their student’s Lunch Pin number when they log into their Pay Pams account at www.paypams.com or log into their ParentVUE account and click on Fee Pay.

    Before and After-School Programs
    Before and After-School Programs, as well as after-school busing, will begin on Monday, September 11. Most of these programs are offered FREE of charge. Some programming may begin later in the year and is subject to change so please refer to the weekly Student Activity Bulletin for updates. Information regarding available activities can be found here.
    Activity buses will be available Monday-Friday to all students staying after school. Students not in a program or assigned with a teacher are not eligible for activity bus transportation.
    Edgwood also offers many Community Ed sports opportunities throughout the year. Find out more in the AFTER-SCHOOL SPORTS section below. 
    Chess Club
    Edgewood Chess Club registration is now open! We meet Tuesday mornings from 7-7:45 a.m. on school days beginning Tuesday, September 12. All experience levels are welcome. Use the links below to get registered. 

    Fall Sports Fall After-School Sports
    Fall co-curricular activites will begin on Monday, September 11. Sports available through Community Ed will be Cross Country (practice at Irondale), Ultimate Frisbee, Boys/Girls Soccer, Boys/Girls Tennis as well as Volleyball starting up later in the fall. The registration form for these sports can be found here.

    Community Community Program Offerings
    In addition to the youth programs and enrichment opportunities available through the District's Community Ed Department, a number of activities, camps and youth programs are hosted by area cities, local businesses, community organizations and school PTA groups. Please see offerings available in the district attendance area here.

    KnightKrawler Robotics FIRST Fair
    Join KnightKrawler for their FIRST(For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Fair on Saturday, September 16, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Upper and Lower Gyms at Irondale High School.  Learn about the FIRST Programs and meet local robotics teams from FLL (FIRST LEGO League...grades 4-8), FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge...grades 7-12), and FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition...grades 9-12). Activities include driving a robot, hands on STEAM activities, dry ice bubble maker, solar mini cars, and other activities, fun for the whole family.  We hope to see you there!
    MOTK Marching Band Hosts MOTK
    Please join Marching Band for their 25th Anniversary "Music of the Knight"  Premier Competition on Saturday, September 30, at 5:00 p.m. at Irondale High School. Tickets will be available at the door. 
    Football Irondale Homecoming
    Irondale Homecoming is scheduled for Friday, October 6. Come cheer on the Knights as they face Henry Sibley High School at 7:00 p.m.
    Bowling Irondale Bowling
    What has 10 pins and you throw a ball? If you guessed bowling, you're correct! Irondale High School has a coed bowling team and grades 7-12 are welcome to join the team. We meet at The Mermaid on Mondays at 3:00 p.m., with the exception of Tuesday after Labor Day. Competitions are held on Fridays at 3:30 p.m. beginning in September at area Bowling Centers. The Irondale Bowling Team competes in the Minnesota State High School League. The season wraps up in mid-November, unless State tournament berth is won. State is held in early December. All participants must provide their own transportation to and from all practices and matches. If you have any questions, please contact Gerald Arel at gta1958@msn.com.     EPAT EPAT Meeting Dates
    Please join us anytime for our EPAT meetings. Meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. and are held in the front office conference room with the exception of September 25, which will be in the LMC, as we will have a guest speaker from the District to talk about this fall's school bond proposal.      Cherrydale EPAT Fall Fundraiser
    Last year's fundraiser was so successful, we are again offering Frozen Cookie Dough, Candles and other products through Cherrydale, a local Minnesota company. The fundraiser will begin on Monday, September 11, when packets will be sent home with students. Money and order forms are due back to school on Tuesday, September 26, and order pick-up is Thursday, October 26. Try out a free sample of cookies at our upcoming Back-to School Orientation dates. The money raised from the fundraiser provides supplemental resource to enrich the education of all students at Edgewood throughout the year. More information about the fundraiser can be found here.

    You can support Edgewood by participating in the below fundraisers year-round: 
    FPI Food Taste Testing - Earn some extra $$CASH$$ and sample some really great food. All you have to do is log on and register at www.fpitesters.com.
    Box Tops Box Tops - Please save all of your Box Tops and turn them in at Edgewood. There is a drop box in the front office of the school. This is just another way to earn money for our kids. Please be sure Box Tops are not expired as they will not accept.
