Parent Education

  • Parent Education

The family provides the child’s first and most significant learning environment and parents are the child’s first and most important teachers.  We support parents in our Early Childhood Education classes.  A MN licensed parent educator teaches parents about child development and parenting topics.  A parent educator is present in all ECFE & First Friends classes and some Preschool 3’s and PreKindergarten 4’s classes.  On the parent day, parents attend class with the child for play and learn activities, circle time songs and stories followed by parent education discussion led by a licensed parent educator.

See the points below gleaned from a recent survey of parents who participated in ECFE.

    • 96% of parents report that participating in Early Childhood Family Education-ECFE helped improve their parenting
    • Parents observed positive changes in all five areas of their child’s development after attending ECFE
    • Parents reported many benefits from participating in ECFE programs including a greater sense of control over one’s life, higher self-esteem, better problem solving, increased knowledge of child development, recognition of a parent’s role as the child’s teacher and better techniques to manage children’s behavior.

Do you have a parenting question?  If you are looking for developmental information, kid-friendly activities, or parenting techniques, we can help.  A licensed parent educator will answer your questions based on current research and experience.  Send your contact information and questions to:earlychildhood@moundsviewschools.org.
