    This fall, residents will consider two questions on the ballot -- our school district’s facilities proposal and a school board election. Thanks to early voting, any New Brighton resident can vote today at City Hall, 803 Old Highway 8, NW.


    Hours of voting:

    Monday through Friday............. 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

    Saturday, November 4............. 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

    Monday, November 6............... 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.


    In addition, any resident of Mounds View Public Schools can vote in person starting next Tuesday at the Ramsey County Library in Shoreview, 4560 Victoria Street North.

    **The regular school dress code applies on any spirit day**

    1. No masks.
    2. If you face paint, you must be recognizable. NO face paint put on at school.
    3. Hats only if it matches outfit/costume.
    4. Nothing inappropriate that makes fun of someone or some other group.
    5. No weapons or anything that resembles a weapon.
    6. No violent themes.
    7. No hair spray used at Highview---home only.
    8. Costumes are to be put on at home—not at school.
    9. Staff members have the right to ask you to change or eliminate parts of your costume if deemed inappropriate or unsafe.
    10. Costumes need to comply with the Highview Dress Code.

    We have a new club!  Mr. Iverson is starting the Philosophy Club.  The group will meet 8 sessions on Mondays, starting November 13th.  The club is open and free to all interested students.  See Mr. Iverson for more information. 

    This club will help students hone their communication and critical thinking skills, as well as introduce them to some basic ideas and methods of philosophy.  


    Highview students will be presenting the musical, “Fame Jr.” this winter.  Auditions for the musical will be held on November 13, 14 and 15 after school in Room 161.   

    There will be a “warm-up” rehearsal on Thursday, November 9 in the choir room where students will be able to receive songs and script pages that will be used for the audition.  The Warm-up Rehearsal isn’t mandatory, but could be helpful. 

    Auditions packets will be available in the choir room beginning Monday, October 30.  You must bring the audition form completed, with a parent signature, to your audition.



    8th grade has been working on an interdisciplinary STEAM project. Students have been researching human rights issues/violations and will be writing a paper about what they have learned, then sending it to a person with influence.

    Students also collaborate with group members to create a solution for the issue they researched. They are taking action to help the problem by fundraising for reputable charities, building awareness, volunteering, making behavior or political changes.

    Come see some of these amazing student creations at our 2nd Annual Expo Night. You will be able to contribute to positive change. It is a great way to help others, while treating yourself and others in your life. You will be able to buy gifts, food, water, treats, bracelets, slime and a variety of other things.

    Join us at 8th Grade Expo Night on November 14th, from 5:00 -6:30 PM! We look forward to seeing you there!

    The Highview Student Council recently had a “Penny War” to collect money for schools affected by the recent hurricanes.  We collected $1000 dollars!  With those generous donations we were able to buy these items for schools in the Houston area of Texas.

    • Folders for Stephens Elementary
    • Composition Notebooks and expandable files for Rhoads Elementary
    • Pencils, Composition Notebooks & Electric and Manual pencil sharpeners for Bear Creek Elementary.

    The Mounds View High School Orchestra is holding a free Book Fair Fundraising Concert at Barnes & Noble Roseville in HarMar Mall on Monday, November 6th from 4:00 PM. – 8:00 PM,   Unable to attend the concert? Any purchase made in-store on 11-6-17 at any Barnes & Noble location nationwide will also qualify.

    Cleaning out your closets?  Donate your old LEGOs to the Mounds View District LEGO Drive from October 1-31!

    There is a donation bin located in the school office. 

    Mounds View Elementary schools are starting up LEGO League Jr. Teams, and they need LEGOs to help get them going.  They will accept anything LEGO including:  loose LEGOs, kits missing pieces, Mindstorm kits, baseplates, and anything else made by LEGO.

    All donations will be used to help start up LEGO League Jr. teams for the 2018 season.

    The Minnesota VFW is hosting their annual essay contest for students.  The theme this year is “America’s Gift to My Generation.”  Students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade are invited to participate.  All essays should be in English with no color or graphics and cannot be less than 300 words or greater than 400 words in length. 

    Students should see their ELA teacher for more information.  Essays must be submitted to the office by Monday, October 30th
