UPDATE TO HIGHVIEW MIDDLE SCHOOL TARDY POLICY

In an effort to encourage students to arrive on time to each class ready to learn, we are making the following change to our tardy policy.  Starting this quarter, any students who have four tardies marked in their attendance records will be assigned to an after-school detention study session from 2:50pm-4:00pm.  This will repeat each time a student is marked tardy four times.  When students are assigned after-school detention due to excessive tardies, parents and guardians will be notified by an automated phone call.  Student attendance may be monitored under the Attendance tab in ParentVue.  For questions regarding a student's attendance, please call the Highview main line at 651-621-6700. The Irondale Marching Knights are excited to offer a color guard opportunity for all middle school students currently in in grades 6, 7 and 8 from Edgewood and Highview Middle Schools. This is great way to give color guard try.  If you missed it this fall-- now is your chance!

There will be an information and registration meeting on Monday, November 27 at 6:30 pm in the Irondale High School Band Room.  Parents and students will have the opportunity to learn about Middle School Guard and everything that it includes.  The group will hold regular practices to prepare for several performances.  No experience is necessary --as we will have coaches and captains from the high school team there to help.

    ATTENTION CURRENT 6TH GRADE PARENTS

Mark your calendars now for the 7th Grade trip to the Laurentian Environmental Center during the 2018-2019 School Year in September.  We will have two trips for 7th graders—Monday-Wednesday, September, 17-19, 2018 and Wednesday-Friday, September 19-21, 2018.

For many students in the Mounds View School District, their trip to the Laurentian Environmental Center (LEC) was a highlight of their middle school years.  We are very excited to be able to offer this opportunity for our 7th grade students to spend 3 days and 2 nights of educational and team-building activities in the north woods of Minnesota.

LEC is a public residential educational facility that combines environmental education, leadership training and outdoor skills recreation programs.  Please visit the LEC website at www.laurentiancenter.org  for more information.

Watch for more information to come your way in the spring.  If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Eller at Sheila.eller@moundsviewschools.org or your student’s dean.
