Ratification of contracts
The Board approved the proposed contracts between the District and the Paraprofessional Union and the Nutrition Services Association as presented for 2017-2019.
Paraprofessional Union contract points include:
• A 2 percent increase to the wage schedule in year one and a 1.5 percent increase in year two of the contract.
• Increased District contribution family health insurance benefit from 65 percent to 70 percent of the high deductible premium starting in year two of the contract.
• Increased VEBA contribution for individuals carrying single and family coverage on the high deductible plan.
• Contract increase is 3.87 percent for the two-year period.
Nutrition Services Association contract points include:
• A 2 percent increase to the wage schedule in each year of the contract.
• Increase certification pay from .15 to .30/hour to align with new USDA & SNA guidelines in year two of the contract.
• Contract increase is 3.37 percent for the two-year period.
Sale of bonds
The Board approved a resolution authorizing the issuance and sale of $153,575,000 general obligation school building bonds, series 2018A. The bonds are being issued pursuant to the referendum held on November 7, 2017. Proceeds will be used to finance the acquisition and betterment of school sites and facilities within the District. Facilities planning included recommendations provided by a facilities task force, an administrative review and a review and comment process approved by the Commissioner of Education at the Minnesota Department of Education. Quarterly budget report and amendments
Bridget Peterson, director of finance, provided revenue and expenditure reports for all funds for the second quarter ending December 31, 2017. Both revenues and expenditures are within budget for fiscal year 2017-2018 and are very comparable to this time last year. Peterson also reported on the quarterly budget amendments and investment earnings. The Board approved the budget amendments as presented at the meeting. Budget assumptionsThe Board approved budget assumptions for fiscal year 2018-2019 as presented by Bridget Peterson. Budget assumptions will be used in financial projections and in determining the final budget as well as the results of this year's legislative session and state budget forecasts.
