Miss Emily Goldhammer
Welcome to my website!
My name is Emily Goldhammer and I am a speech-language pathologist (SLP) in the Birth-2 Program here in Mounds View. I have been in the Birth-2 Program since the summer of 2014 and love it! I worked in the 3-5 year old preschool program here in Mounds View during the 2013-2014 school year while also working for half the year at Hmong College Prep Academy. Prior to that, I worked in a private outpatient pediatric clinic as a SLP here in the North Metro for several years.
I love working in the Mounds View School District! I grew up in the district and several of my family members have taught here as well. I graduated from Irondale High School in 2003 and from the University of Minnesota - Duluth in 2007 with a Bachelor's of Applied Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Following graduation, I spent a year as a Certified Nursing Assitant in the Duluth area as well as a Personal Care Assistant for a child with autism. In the spring of 2008 I moved to Vermillion, South Dakota to begin my master's program at the University of South Dakota where I graduated with a Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology in 2010. Just prior to graduation, I was honored to complete my educational internship here in the Mounds View School District at Pinewood Elemtentary School, Valentine Hills Elementary School, and Irondale High School.
My passion lies in helping people and I am fortunate to be able to follow my passion each day helping you help your children! I love working side-by-side with parents and caregivers, coaching you how to incorporate strategies for improved communication skills throughout your daily routines. It is amazing how working together can make such an impact on a chlid!
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my three dogs, taking care of my chickens, reading, spending time with friends and family, traveling, and going on adventures. I also love to volunteer! I am a member of the Lake Elmo Jaycees, part of JCI Minnesota, and am the secretary for the Twin Cities Speech-Language Pathology (TCSLP) group. My black lab Shelby is a Certified Therapy Dog and we love volunteering together at schools, MSP International Airport and LifeWorks.
Because I provide services in the homes of my students, I am not always accessible by phone. The best way to get ahold of me is by email or by calling my work cell phone (651-895-6530). I will do my best to respond as soon as I am able, unless I am not working. A calendar indicating the days that I am working is linked to this website under the "Calendar" tab. If you are trying to reach me at the last moment to cancel a home visit, please contact our program secretaries at 651-621-6150. They will do their best to reach me on the road.
Please take a look around on my website for some helpful hints on how to help your child improve their speech and language skills as well as information on developmental milestones. I look forward to getting to you know and your children!
