    orchestra 7th & 8th Grade Orchestra Concert
On Thursday, March 22, the 7th and 8th grade orchestras will perform at both Sunnyside and Pinewood Elementary Schools. The group will leave at 9:20 a.m. and arrive back around 2:15 p.m. Since this will interfere with their regular lunch schedules, all students attending the field trip will eat lunch at McDonald’s (7th grade) or Subway (8th grade) or bring a bagged lunch. This will be a fun performance for the elementary students to get excited for their orchestra journey ahead of them! It will be a packed gym full of students and teachers, but a few parents are more than welcome to attend as a chaperone. The permission form is due Monday, March 19 and can be found here
    testing MCA Testing
Following spring break, our students will be taking several of our annual state assessments to determine the growth they made this year and to plan for instruction in the coming year. Content area teachers will be providing more specific communication on the exact dates that students will test, but the below schedule will give you an idea of testing times. During these times, please make sure that your student gets plenty of sleep and gets a nutritious breakfast to start their day. Thank you for your support!
MCA Reading: Monday, March 26 - Thursday, March 29
MAP Reading: Monday, April 16 - Friday, April 20
MCA Math: Monday, April 23 - Friday, April 27
MCA Science: Monday, April 30 - Friday, May 4
MAP Math: Monday, May 14 - Friday, May 18
On Monday, March 26, and Tuesday, March 27, we will operate on a "reverse block day", with students following the schedule below:
Monday, March 26                  Tuesday, March 27
    Period 7                                  Period 8 STEAM
    Period 5                                  Period 6
    Period 3                                  Period 4
    Period 1                                  Period 2
This unusual schedule allows students that normally have their Language Arts classes in the afternoon to have at least one testing day in the morning.
On Tuesday morning, March 27, students will go to their Period 8 STEAM Class, giving them a bonus STEAM Class that week.
March's lunch menu can be found here

    eagle Eagle Leaders Coin Drive
Eagle Leaders will be hosting a coin drive the week of March 26-29 to help benefit the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf/March FoodShare. Donations can be given to the students' first period teachers or dropped off in the front office. During the week, this is what Eagle leaders will collect:
    Monday - Pennies/Nickels
    Tuesday - Dimes
    Wednesday - Quarters
Thursday - Dollar bills or any coins
With any monetary donation over $1.00 or any non-perishable food donation, students will be added to our can-tributer wall acknowledging their donation.
Even a little donation can make a big difference. A $1.00 gift can provide up to $8.00 worth of groceries to families in need!
A food donation box is also located in the front office. If you prefer, fill a bag of food and drop it off. A list of most needed items can be found here. We are super excited to participate in this food drive and we hope you are too!

As childhood friends growing up in Denver Colorado, Joe Mailander and Justin Lansing were always exploring the outdoors. Whether it was rafting down their neighborhood creek or discovering hiking trails through the Rocky Mountains, Joe and Justin were born adventurers. Now, as the GRAMMY® Award-winning Okee Dokee Brothers, they have put this passion for the outdoors at the heart of their Americana Folk music. Joe and Justin record and perform family music with a goal to inspire children and their parents to get outside and get creative.

Village Weekends provide a fun and unique language and cultural immersion experience for students. This Spanish language and cultural immersion takes place at El Lago del Bosque, Concordia’s architecturally authentic site on Turtle River Lake in Bemidji, MN.

The mission of Concordia Language Villages is to prepare young people for responsible citizenship in our global community. Immersed in another language and culture, students gain a deeper perspective of the world through activities and sports, games, arts and crafts, singing and dancing, authentic meals and conversation with fluent speakers of the language. Concordia Language Villages celebrates diversity, unity, peace, stewardship and justice. Students return to their home classrooms energized and increasingly motivated to actively engage in language learning.

Students’ understanding can improve dramatically during a Village Weekend and encourage their enthusiasm for language learning. Students have continuous opportunities to use their present language skills at any level and develop a higher level of proficiency during fast-moving, activity-filled weekends. Meals are culturally authentic and are often named in evaluations as one of the best parts of the program.

Please visit ConcordiaLanguageVillages.org to learn more. We look forward to welcoming your child soon to a Village Weekend at Concordia Language Villages.
