    EPAT is still in much need for volunteers to help provide a "Welcome Back" soup and salad lunch buffet for the Edgewood staff on Monday, August 27
    Please check the sign-up below to see which items are needed most and drop off between 11-11:15 a.m. that Monday. Lunch will be served to staff at 11:30.

    picnic Back-to-School Orientation & Picnic

    Please join us for our Back-to-School Orientation and Picnic on Monday, August 27, from 4:00-7:30 p.m.

    EPAT FAMILY PICNIC (4:30 - 6:00 p.m.)- Come for food, meet the staff and connect with other Edgewood families. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Pizza, fruit, lemonade, water and dessert will be served and will be provided at no cost. 

    ORIENTATION (4:00 - 7:30 p.m.) - Drop off forms, pick up class schedules/locker assignments, take Lifetouch school pictures and find out about after-school activities. Shop at the School Store and visit with EPAT reps to find out more about EPAT and the new Spirit Wear Webstore available soon. Meet the teachers! They will be in their rooms from 5:00-7:30 p.m.

    If you are unable to make Monday's Orientation and Picnic, there is an ORIENTATION available TOMORROW MORNING, August 24, from 7:00-10:00 a.m. to attend.

    Back-to-School Information 

     In the Middle Day, a special day for sixth grade students ONLY will take place on Tuesday, September 4Free breakfast will be provided! 

    The day will be filled with activities that will help acclimate sixth graders to their new school. Students will practice opening their locker, walking their schedule, familiarizing themselves with the building and participating in some team building activities. 
    Sixth grade parents are welcome to join Principal Penny Howard for "Coffee with the Principal" that Tuesday morning beginning at 7:45 a.m. in the LMC to learn more about Edgewood and to share any questions or concerns you might have about middle school.
    All grades will attend classes beginning Wednesday, September 5.

    LEC 7th Grade LEC Trip Information

    Mark your calendar for next year's 7th Grade LEC Trip.  The trips will take place the week of Monday, October 22 through Friday, October 26, 2018, which will fall between MEA and Halloween.

    Please join us for one of the LEC Information sessions which will be held in the LMC during our Orientation dates: 
    Friday, August 24 - 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. 
    Monday, August 27 - 4:30, 5:30, and 7:00 p.m.

    A Reminder from the School Nurse

    Does your student take medication, have a chronic condition, or have other health needs that will impact his or her school day? Stop by the Health Office booth at Back to School Night to drop off medications, necessary forms, or ask questions you have for Health Service staff! If you have questions to ask before then, please feel free to contact Lynn Iwaszko, Licensed School Nurse, at


    Remember that we need updated orders from the prescribing healthcare provider for any prescribed medications needed at school on a scheduled, emergency, or as needed basis. Medications brought to school must be in their original container with a current pharmacy label attached. Need an extra bottle? Ask at the pharmacy at your next refill!     activities Before and After-School Activities
    The Before and After-School student activities will begin the week of September 12.  Watch here for a listing once it has been finalized.

    • All students in grades 6 - 8 are encouraged to get involved and participate. No experience is necessary.

    • Students are to receive an equal opportunity for playing time during practices and competitions. Emphasis is placed on skill development, teamwork and good sportsmanship.

    • Parents are invited and encouraged to come to competitions and support their children.

    • Transportation will be provided to and from all games/matches. It is the parents'/guardians' responsibility to pick up students after the competition. Failure to do so will result in your student not participating on the next scheduled activity date. 

    NEW THIS FALL Running club will be offered two days per week at all three middle schools for students in grades 6 - 8 that enjoy running without competitions. Click here to register.

    Sports available this fall are: Soccer, Tennis, Ultimate Frisbee, and Volleyball. Sports will begin the week of September 12, with the exception of Volleyball which will begin the week of October 29. Schedules for each sport an be found below:

    bowling Irondale Bowling Team

    Irondale High School has a Bowling team - yes, a Bowling team. The team is coed and grades 7–12 grade are welcome. Practices are on Mondays at 3:45 p.m. at the Mermaid, with the exception of the Tuesday after Labor Day and begin Monday, August 13. Competitions are held on Fridays beginning in September at area Bowling centers with matches starting at 3:45 p.m. The Irondale Bowling team competes in the Minnesota High School Bowling League. The season wraps up in mid –November. All participants must provide their own transportation to and from all practices and matches.     girls cc Girls Cross Country

    Irondale Girls Cross Country is expanding to a 7-12 program. We would love to have girls interested in running to be part of the high school team. Athletes will run the same meets, be part of all team bonding events, get to experience, and create relationships before transitioning to the high school and start or continue building their Knight Pride! The only difference middle school athletes may see is an adjusted training schedule (not as many miles) and some shorter races (two miles instead of 5k). The season starts Monday, August 13. Practices are every day Monday - Saturday. We would love to help show you what a great life long activity running can be. Come join!     girls fitness Girls Fitness Club

    Calling all girls entering grades 8 - 12 in the Fall 2018. Join the Girls Fitness Club this summer. We will spend the first hour doing a combination of cardiovascular exercises, strength training and yoga. The last half hour will be spent either discussing a health related topic or cooking together. We will cook a healthy meal together once a week! The topics we will discuss includes hydration, stretching, nutrition, sleep, stress, and more! We will meet for six (6) weeks, three (3) times a week and will only cost you $100.00!     Seventh and eighth grade athletes who wish to participate on an Irondale High School sports team will register online. Before you begin your online registration, approval must be obtained from the middle school principal or dean, the high school principal, activities director and coach. In addition, signatures from both student and parent/guardian are also required. Please complete the following consent form and deliver to the high school activities office before you begin the online registration:

    Join the Mounds View Police Department for their next session of Firearms Safety/Hunter Education.

    Class Location: Mounds View Police Department (2401 Mounds View Blvd.)

    Course Fee: $5 paid on the first day of class/$7.50 paid online after successful completion of the class for a total of $12.50

    EPAT's Fall Fundraiser Kick-off will take place on Thursday, September 27. Order forms and money will be due on Tuesday, October 9, and orders can be picked up in the cafeteria on Tuesday, November 13, - just in time for the holidays!

    FPI Food Taste Testing - Earn some extra $$CASH$$ and sample some really great food. All you have to do is log on and register at www.fpitesters.com.
    Box Tops Box Tops - Please save all of your Box Tops and turn them in at Edgewood. There is a drop box in the front office of the school. This is just another way to earn money for our kids. Please be sure Box Tops are not expired as they will not accept.
    We are in need of a parent volunteer to take over the Box Tops program. If this is something you are able to do from home, please let us know!
