    GOOD NEWS, the busing shortage has been worked out and the Before and After-School/Community Ed student activities will begin the week of September 10. Please refer to the STUDENT/SPORT ACTIVITIES section below to find out which activities are available starting next week.  Students should listen to morning and afternoon announcements for any changes/additions to the activity schedule during the week.

    As we approach another school year we want to gather some feedback on how we have been doing so far meeting your child's needs up until this point. We realize that some of your students are just beginning their journey through middle school and that we also have some families that have had several children come through our building, either way your feedback is important to us.
     
    We have put together a short survey for parents/guardians to fill out. This valuable information will help us prioritize what we need to focus on this school year when it comes to student and family needs from the school. 
      
    Please complete this survey by Sunday, September 9. We appreciate and thank you for your feedback. 
     
     
    Seussical Seussical Musical Auditions
     
    The Edgewood Drama Department is excited to get started with our production of Seussical, Jr. We will be holding auditions Monday, September 10, and Tuesday, September 11, after school. Any call backs will be Wednesday and possibly Thursday that same week. All students are welcome to audition but they must bring a parent-signed audition form to their audition. Those forms and an information sheet are available in student services. Hope to see your student on stage!

    During your fall cleaning, think of us!  We are looking for a few items we would love to take off your hands. Donations can be dropped off in the front office. 
     
    Our morning F.A.N. program is looking for board games/card games to add to their selection. Clue and Smash Up board games are a couple favorites.
     
    Our Integrated Sciences Class is looking for a few items for their class projects. Items in need are: 
     
    Cardboard - whole or broke down
     
    Arts & Crafts supplies - poms poms, foam pieces, tissue paper, feathers, popsicle sticks, etc. If you are unsure, drop off and we will take it from there. 
     
    Legos - extra pieces or kits

    dance party Blast from the Past Party
     
    Come kick off the school year with dancing, movie (Back to the Future), basketball, bingo (with prizes), face painting, manicures, and concessions with pizza at EPAT's back to the school party "Blast from the Past" on Friday, September 14, after school. After-school activity buses will be available to take home students after the event. Admission is $5 and includes one free food ticket. Food tickets will be $0.50 with concession items costing either one or two tickets.  
     
    Parents, we'd love your help with either set-up, clean-up, chaperoning or all of the above! Below are the areas we will be needing help. If  you can help out, please contact our parent volunteer coordinator Margaret at margaret.meyer@moundsviewschools.org.

    The Mounds View Public Schools Curriculum Advisory Committee is seeking representatives to serve on the committee for the 2018-2019 school year.  Committee members work in partnership with the district and community to gain knowledge and provide feedback about about curriculum and other instructional issues.

    The Ralph Reeder Food Shelf is having their annual coat drive on Saturday, October 20, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Christ the King Church in New Brighton, MN. This is a great opportunity for families in need of quality, warm winter clothing - especially those with kids attending a school trip to Laurentian Environmental Center.

    LEC 7th Grade LEC Trip Information
     

    LEC will take place the week of Monday, October 22 through Friday, October 26, 2018. All registration forms need to be completed and returned to the front office by Wednesday, October 10. Early, “choose your trip” registration forms need to be turned in by Friday, September 21.

    amazon club Amazon Club
     
    Students looking to be in Amazon Club need to stop by Mr. Perry's room to pick up a permission slip. Once returned, their name will be put onto the list. There are only 15 slots available, so get it returned quickly! Amazon Club will start next Wednesday, September 12, in Room 003 after school. Students must have their permission slip turned in, and be one of the first 15 students to return them in order to attend.

    eagle Eagle Leaders

    Eagle Leaders is a student leadership group in which students develop their skills to serve the Edgewood Community. Eagle Leaders organize, plan, and encourage participation in Eagle Pride activities, lead food dirves, host clean-up events, make blankets for homeless shelters, and do many other service projects determined by group members. Eagle Leaders also lead EW school spirit events such as dress up days, holiday grams, and more! Eagle Leaders will meet two Friday's after school each month. The Eagle Leaders first meeting date of the school year is Friday, September 21, in Room 109.  We hope to see you there!

    NEW THIS FALL Running club will be offered two days per week at all three middle schools for students in grades 6 - 8 that enjoy running without competitions. Click here to register.

    Sports available this fall are: Soccer, Tennis, Ultimate Frisbee, and Volleyball. Sports will begin the week of September 10, with the exception of Volleyball which will begin the week of October 29.

      OUR EYES ARE ON IRONDALE 

     

     

    volleyball Youth Volleyball Clinic

    Join Irondale's Volleyball team for a youth clinic on Saturday, September 15, from 9:00 a.m. to noon for students grades 2-8. Cost is $15/indivdual or $20/family cap (two or more). A t-shirt, team poster and a light lunch will be provided for each participant.

    The clinic will be conducted by the Irondale Volleyball Team who will be on hand to provide tips on volleyball skills and what it is like to be a high school athlete. You can register here

     

     

     school bus High School Activities Busing

    If your middle schooler is participating in high school sports, PLEASE NOTE that this school year, the Irondale after-school activity bus routes will depart at 5 p.m., not at 4:30 as previously communicated. This change is in response to the statewide school bus driver shortage that is impacting our district and districts around the state. We wanted parents and students to have this information in advance of the school year, so you can plan ahead.

    Seventh and eighth grade athletes who wish to participate on an Irondale High School sports team will register online. Before you begin your online registration, approval must be obtained from the middle school principal or dean, the high school principal, activities director and coach. In addition, signatures from both student and parent/guardian are also required. Please complete the following consent form and deliver to the high school activities office before you begin the online registration:

    Mark your calendar for Saturday, November 10, 2018, for the Mounds View Schools Education Foundation’s 7th annual Rock the School House event, the flagship fundraising event benefiting Mounds View Public Schools students.

    It promises to be a memorable evening filled with great food and drink, featuring some of the District’s best musical talent. Guests will again have the opportunity to participate in the wine & spirits toss, silent and live auctions as well as the fund-a-need program. Tickets go on sale Monday, September 17.     As part of the Music at Mounds View Series, come see Koo Koo Kanga Roo on January 13, at 2:00 p.m. at the Mounds View High School Auditorium. Koo Koo Kanga Roo is the dance-a-long comedy show from Bryan and Neil, two friends who set out to experiment with live music and make it more fun. Armed with nothing more than an iPod, two mics, one giant rainbow and some gold sneakers, Koo Koo Kanga Roo puts on an all-ages dance party that invites everyone to join in.
